  • Patent number: 8054845
Abstract: Methods and nodes are provided herein that can generate reliable acknowledgements within the time-frame required to transmit a single message over a decoupled connection so as to meet the real-time requirements of the CEC protocol. Specifically, there is provided a method in a communication system, the communication system comprising a first device, a second device, a first node and a second node, the first and second nodes being connected via a decoupled connection, the method comprising sending a plurality of data packets from the first device to the second device via the first and second nodes; on receiving a data packet from the first device, providing an acknowledgement for said data packet from the first node to the first device; wherein the acknowledgement provided to the first device corresponds to an acknowledgement provided to the first node from the second device in respect of a data packet preceding said data packet.

  • Patent number: 8042145
Abstract: This invention relates to controlling the power states in a multimedia system comprising a multimedia connector box including a multimedia source interconnected to a transmitter module, and a multimedia device including a receiver module interconnected to a multimedia sink, wherein the transmitter and the receiver modules interface the multimedia connector box and the multimedia device via multimedia interfacing means. A signal detector detects the signal activity between the power sources of the multimedia system for determining the current power state of the power sources, and a power switching mechanism adapts the power states of the transmitter and receiving modules to the power states of the power sources.

  • Publication number: 20110062794
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for switching a multimedia source and multimedia sink from an operating mode to a standby mode, and a method for switching a multimedia source and multimedia sink from a standby mode to an operating mode. When the consumer device comprises two distributed boxes, such as a TV in which the display (multimedia sink) is separated from the processing unit (multimedia source) via a cable, then meeting the green rules for standby power becomes more complicated. The power consumption of processing unit and display unit should be minimal in standby mode. The methods of the invention provide for synchronizing the power states of both units, such that only the relevant parts remain active. The method is applicable on configurations where a DisplayPort link is used between a multimedia source, such as a set-top box, and a multimedia sink, such as a display.
