  • Patent number: 4903098
Abstract: The invention relates to a charge-coupled device with an adjustable charge transport route having at least two ccd segments, which can be connected in series with each other by means of a switchable connection. This connection includes an output diode for the first segment, an input diode for the first segment, an input diode for the second segment and a switch, for example a MOS transistor, which is connected to the output diode and/or the input diode. The input diode and the output diode may be in the form of individual zones or in the form of individual zones or in the form of a common zone. The invention, which offers the advantage that the transport time through the connection independent of the length of the form of the connection, can be used, for example, in programmable filters, (de)multiplexers, (de)scramblers and the like.

  • Patent number: 4733407
Abstract: The invention relates to a charge-coupled device, in which the channel is provided with two or more separation regions for obtaining a desired charge subdivision, for example, for a transversal filter. Due to asymmetry in the potential distribution between the outer subchannels and the central subchannels, an inaccuracy occurs in the charge distribution, which according to the invention is eliminated for the major part by locally providing the separation channels bounding the outer subchannels with an interruption.

  • Patent number: 4584697
Abstract: In a 4-phase CCD with 90.degree. overlap of the clock voltages, the area below two clock electrodes may be used for the storage of charge packets which thus can be 2.times. as large as in conventional modes of operation. By choosing the penultimate electrode before the reading stage to be approximately 2.5.times. as large as the other electrodes, this double charge packet can be transferred undivided in time to the output diode, a feature which is particularly advantageous for further signal processing.
