Patent number: 8182676Abstract: A gas baffle for a waste water treatment plant filter housing that includes a first and second deflecting plate. The gas baffle has at least one flow-through opening defined by the first and second deflecting plates. The combination of the first and second deflecting plates deflects rising gas bubbles and any solid particulates so that the bubbles and particulates do not enter the filter housing. The gas baffle may include exterior apertures to dissipate the rising gas bubbles that travel on the bottom surface of each deflecting plate. The gas baffle may be integrally formed with the filter housing or created separately and subsequently connected.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2009Date of Patent: May 22, 2012Assignee: Bear Onsite, LLCInventor: Theophilus B. Patent number: 7926510Abstract: A riser system for use at the access opening of a wastewater treatment tank includes an adaptor ring affixed to the top of the tank, and a mating riser. The adaptor ring and riser have ends with mating circumferential L-shape sections. There are horizontally projecting tabs spaced apart around the upper end of the adaptor. The tabs engage a corresponding number of L-shape slots which are spaced apart around the circumference of the bottom end of the riser. When ring and riser are mated, rotation of the riser relative to the adaptor causes each tab to move circumferentially to a recess in the slot, which locks the tab in position. Micro-ridges on horizontal mating surfaces of the L-shape sections help form a seal between the two parts.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2008Date of Patent: April 19, 2011Assignee: EZflow L.P.Inventors: Theophilus B. Patent number: 7740756Abstract: A filter unit for use in a casing disposed in a septic tank comprising a plurality of stacked filter plates. The individual filter plate is preferably substantially āDā shaped in circumference and has a substantially cone-shaped floor, tapering upward. The filter plates are preferably stacked in a superposed, spaced-apart manner with a particular diameter in relationship to the inner diameter of the case. The filter plates are preferably inserted into the filter case to define a seal horizontally around the bottom opening in the case, thereby allowing wastewater to enter into the filter plates to begin the filtering process. Solids preferably flow upward into the filter plates, where they are separated by size with a predetermined gap in the stacked filter plates.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2006Date of Patent: June 22, 2010Inventors: Michael J. Hornback, Theophilus B. Terry, III, Jerome A. Mehling

Patent number: 7309419Abstract: A device for diverting the flow of liquid in a wastewater treatment system in flow communication with effluent returning from a recirculating treatment section and in flow communication with a discharge line for removing a portion of treated effluent to a receiving body. The device also has openings for returning a percentage of the effluent back to the wastewater treatment system. A valve operatively responsive to a float in the treatment system whereby when the effluent level in the system falls below a critical point, all of the effluent is recirculated back into the treatment system and when the effluent level rises sufficiently a percentage of cleaned effluent exits the system.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2004Date of Patent: December 18, 2007Assignee: Quanics, Inc.Inventors: Kevin J. Rhorer, Theophilus B. Terry, III

Patent number: 6540912Abstract: An aerobic treatment system for wastewater is disclosed herein. The aerobic treatment system is comprised of a basin, which receives wastewater through an inlet pipe, the inlet pipe depositing the untreated wastewater to the lower portion of the basin. The wastewater must then flow from the lower portion of the interior of the basin through a fibrous filter and through an outlet filter to the outlet section of the aerobic treatment system. While resident within the lower portion of the basin, the wastewater is treated through aeration by an insertion of air through an air inlet pipe and diffusing the air within the untreated wastewater below the fibrous filter. The entire aerobic treatment system of the present invention is designed such that the filtering mechanisms may be readily removed or cleaned on a routine basis by the user.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2000Date of Patent: April 1, 2003Inventors: Harry L. Nurse, Jr., Theophilus B. Terry, III
