  • Patent number: 5530052
Abstract: Novel silicate minerals that have undergone a cation exchange with at least one heteroaromatic cation comprising a positively charged organo-substituted heteroatom and/or at least one positively charged heteroatom not part of an aromatic ring with at least one bond having a bond order greater than one and compositions comprising the same are described.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 3, 1995
Date of Patent: June 25, 1996
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Tohru Takekoshi, Farid F. Khouri, John R. Campbell, Therese C. Jordan, Kevin H. Dai
  • Patent number: 5334672
Abstract: Flame retardant blends of poly(aryloxysiloxane) and organic polymers such as polyethers, polyesters, polyetherimides and terpolymers of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene are provided. In many instances, the flame retardant blends exhibit improved chemical resistance, impact resistance and have an improved heat deflection temperature as compared to the original polymeric materials.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 2, 1994
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Therese C. Jordan, Jimmy L. Webb
  • Patent number: 5187243
Abstract: Broad range blends of aromatic polycarbonate and poly(aryloxysiloxane), such as poly(silyloxytetraalkylbiphenyleneoxide), have been found to be transparent. These blends also have been found to be flame retardant and possess excellent mechanical properties, such as high Notched Izod Impact.
