Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling sensitive components includes a tray having an array of integral latches. A portion of each latch serves to maintain the components on their respective mounts. The method of using the tray involves displacing the latch with an end effector to enable automated removal of the component from the tray.

Abstract: The invention concerns a tray having an integral latch that mates to a boss of an adjacent tray to form a stable stack. The latch may be incorporated into any type of tray, basket, or other container for storing articles. Multiple containers may be stacked together without the use of a detachable clip. Also disclosed is a tray that includes an array of posts extending downward to support the tray on a flat surface.

The sides and top of the housing extend outwardly in width to form a back portion of the cartridge that is wider than the front portion and prevent the cartridge from being inserted into non-compatible tape drives. Two large diameter tape hubs improve the empty hub to full pack diameter ratios, and improve the resulting tangential drive force and tape tension profiles as the tape moves between the hubs.
