Patent number: 9497529Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with a microphone in a microphone port. A shield may cover a microelectromechanical systems microphone device on a microphone substrate. An opening in the microphone substrate may form a sound port for the microphone. The microphone port may be formed by perforations in the microphone substrate or other layers such as a flexible printed circuit layer, a sheet metal layer, a layer of adhesive, a flexible polymer carrier layer in an adhesive tape, or an electronic device housing. The perforations may be sufficiently small to help resist the intrusions of foreign material such as liquid and dirt into the sound port of the microphone. Larger openings may be formed in other structures such as an electronic device housing. The larger openings may serve as sound passageways for the microphone port while being sufficiently large to resist clogging.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2014Date of Patent: November 15, 2016Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Peter N. Jeziorek, Justin D. Crosby, Trang Thi-Thanh Nguyen, Michelle R. Goldberg

Publication number: 20150228150Abstract: In one aspect within the present disclosure, a game machine is provided. The game machine comprises a display and a controller. The display is configured to display a plurality of frames. The controller is configured to: select at least one symbol to display within each frame on the display; determine the presence of a winning combination of symbols between a first set of frames; determine the presence of a winning combination of symbols between a second set of frames; generate a payout amount if a winning combination is determined within the first or second set; and modify the payout amount as a function of the symbol in at least another one of the frames.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 2015Publication date: August 13, 2015Inventors: Hien Thi Thanh Nguyen, Mark Yoseloff, Ichiro Tsuchida
