  • Patent number: 11692234
Abstract: A flat steel product for hot forming may be produced from a steel substrate that includes a steel comprising 0.1-3% by weight Mn and up to 0.01% by weight B, along with a protective coating that is applied to the steel substrate. The protective coating may be based on Al and may contain up to 20% by weight of other alloy elements. Also disclosed are methods for producing such flat steel products, steel components, and methods for producing steel components. Absorption of hydrogen is minimized during heating necessary for hot forming. This is achieved at least in part through an alloy constituent of 0.1-0.5% by weight of at least one alkaline earth or transition metal in the protective coating, wherein an oxide of the alkaline earth or transition metal is formed on an outer surface of the protective coating during hot forming of the flat steel product.

  • Patent number: 10287440
Abstract: A steel product may include a metallic anticorrosion coating of an aluminum alloy. So that such a steel product possesses high media resistance, more particularly high acid resistance and corrosion resistance, the steel product may be immersed in a liquid-melt coating bath that includes an aluminum alloy. In addition to Aluminum and unavoidable impurities, the aluminum alloy may include at least one of 0.2-2% by weight Mn or 0.2-7% by weight Mg, 0.5-5% by weight Fe, and at least one of 0.05-0.4% by weight Ti or 0.05-0.4% by weight Zr. A method for producing such steel products may involve providing a steel product in a hot-rolled or cold-rolled state, activating a surface of the steel product to remove passive oxides, and coating the surface-activated steel product by immersion in a liquid-melt coating bath that comprises an aluminum alloy having the aforementioned composition.

  • Publication number: 20160145705
Abstract: A wear-resistant steel part may be formed by hot forming and/or hardening a hardenable steel grade semifinished part. The steel part may be used, for example, as a processing, conveying, and/or crushing mechanism in agricultural machines, conveying machines, mining machines, or building machines. The semifinished part may be heated to a temperature above an Ac1 transformation temperature and then subsequently hot formed and/or hardened. The steel part may be particularly suitable for use with abrasive materials. To that end, the steel part may have at least one region that has been hardened to a depth of not more than 100 microns by surface hardening before the semifinished part is hot formed or hardened.

  • Patent number: 9234253
Abstract: A readily formable flat steel product has a ductile edge layer that is from 10 to 200 ?m thick and has a ductility greater than a ductility of an inner core layer of the flat steel product. The readily formable flat steel product is produced by annealing a flat steel product having a C content of from 0.1 to 0.4% by weight in a continuous furnace. The annealing is carried out under an annealing atmosphere that contains from 0.1 to 25% by vol. of H2 and H2O, with the balance being N2 and technically unavoidable impurities. A dew point is between ?20° C. and +60° C., and a ratio of H2O/H2 is a maximum of 0.957. In the course of the annealing, the flat steel product is heated to a holding temperature of from 600 to 1100° C. and for a holding time of from 10 to 360 seconds.
