  • Patent number: 7146790
Abstract: An anti-wrapping device is described for preventing crop from being wrapped about the central shaft of a reel rotatably supported on side arms of a header of a combine. The device comprises an annular cover plate for securing to the axial end of the reel to prevent the crop from becoming entangled with projections from the reel and a tubular shroud for mounting on the header support arm to surround the central shaft of the reel, the axial end of the shroud being positioned when in use in close proximity to the annular cover plate of the reel to avoid any crop being caught therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6976913
Abstract: A crop chopper arrangement generally comprises a discharge apparatus having an inlet adapted to receive chopped crop from a crop chopper for an agricultural machine. The arrangement further includes a row of guide vanes positioned substantially transversely to a longitudinal axis of the agricultural machine and adapted to spread out a flow of the chopped crop from the discharge apparatus in a direction substantially rearwards to a direction of travel of the agricultural machine. One or more of the guide vanes has a shape or configuration that is adapted to impart a predetermined deviation to at least a portion of a flow of chopped crop passing through said discharge apparatus. The shape or configuration of each guide vane is dependent on its transverse position in the row. This arrangement makes it possible to realize an even distribution of the chopped crop over the full width of the harvester header.

  • Patent number: 6958012
Abstract: A concave arrangement is disclosed for a threshing machine such as a combine harvester 10. The arrangement includes a concave 30 having a moveable rear portion 48 that is adapted to vary the break-over angle presented to straw passing downstream. A flap member 54 is provided that moves jointly with the moveable rear portion 48 and ensures that a gap G between the moveable portion 48 and a later processing stage such as a beater apparatus is kept substantially closed. Variation of the break-over angle influences the length of the straw leaving the threshing machine and the loading of the further separation and cleaning mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 6929334
Abstract: A management system is disclosed for controlling the tension of an endless track by regulating the hydraulic pressure in a hydraulic jack acting on a roller serving to tension the track. The tension management system comprises two accumulators of different capacity that are connected to the jack. Both accumulators are in permanent direct communication with the jack and the larger accumulator is preloaded to a higher pressure than the smaller accumulator.

  • Patent number: 4510947
Abstract: A combine harvester having a rotary perforated air screen and a device operable to suck air inwardly through the air screen is disclosed wherein the rotary air screen is mounted adjacent a generally horizontal surface of the machine and is provided with a stationary impervious member in the vicinity of the generally horizontal surface to render the air screen imperforate at that location and hence allow foreign matter to fall from the air screen. An aperture is formed in the generally horizontal surface generally downstream of the rearward edge of the impervious member, as seen in the direction of rotation of the air screen. Foreign matter from the air screen and/or from remote sources which generally collect on the horizontal surface can be moved along the horizontal surface by the operation of the rotating air screen and deflected through the aperture for discharge from the combine harvester.

  • Patent number: 4218864
Abstract: A harvesting machine comprising drive means for driving certain components thereof, drive control means for engaging and disengaging the drive means, drive reversing means associated with the drive means, and control means for controlling the drive reversing means and being actuable in unison with the drive control means, the arrangement being such that upon actuation of the drive control means and the reversing control means in unison, first the drive reversing means are actuated and subsequently the drive means are engaged so as to be driven in the reverse direction.
