Patent number: 7726455Abstract: A clutch comprises an input pinion and an output pinion associated with a rotatable locking member that has a surface inclined with respect to an axis of rotation of the locking member. The surface cooperates with an engagement member, and the locking member is movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the surface forms a recess to receive the engagement member, and in the second position, the surface forms a projection to force the engagement member into abutment with the input pinion to establish a driveable connection between the input pinion and the output pinion.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2007Date of Patent: June 1, 2010Assignee: ArvinMeritor Light Vehicle Systems —FranceInventors: Dominique Benoit, Franck Rivoiret, Thierry Pebre

Patent number: 7489095Abstract: An anti-pinch control utilizes certain vehicle information to adjust anti-pinch parameters used to control movement of a powered closure member. The anti-pinch control determines whether a vehicle is stationary, and identifies if an engine is “on” or “off.” A low pinch force parameter is applied when the vehicle is stationary and when the engine is “off.” A high pinch force parameter is applied when the engine is “on.” When the low pinch force parameter is being applied, other safety features could also be incorporated into the control, such as preventing release of a parking brake or preventing movement of a gear selector out of park, for example.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2006Date of Patent: February 10, 2009Inventor: Thierry Pebre

Patent number: 6988759Abstract: A modular door system provides a lower door assembly, an upper door assembly and a trim assembly. The upper door assembly is selectively removable and replaceable such that the door system is readily converted between a multiple of configurations. The trim assembly includes the interior vehicle door trim and a hinged trim portion. The hinged trim portion is defined by a trim hinge which is generally parallel to the open edge. By pivoting the hinged trim portion away from the open edge, the cavity is readily exposed for receipt of the upper door assembly. The difference in thickness of the upper door assembly is accommodated by pivoting of the hinged trim portion to permit passage of the components while still providing a seal for the cavity when the hinged trim portion is secured.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2004Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: ArvinMeritor Technology, LLCInventors: Enrico Fin, Kristine Weaver, Gopi Krishnan, Dominique Benoit, Thierry Pebre

Publication number: 20050276449Abstract: A system for detecting an obstruction in the travel of a vent, such as a window glass in an opening of a vehicle, includes a reference element. The reference element is typically coded and either visible or invisible to the naked eye or emits a light signal which extends along at least a part of the perimeter of the opening. A detector, such as a matrix camera, detects the reference element at each point of at least a part of the perimeter of the opening. The system allows detection of an obstruction in the travel of the vent, regardless of variations in light or level of contrast, improving the quality of the detection.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2005Publication date: December 15, 2005Inventors: Didier Pedemas, Thierry Pebre, Chris Rhodes

Patent number: 6543838Abstract: Vehicle comprising a box structure (1) in an inner panel (2) of which there is provided an opening (3) for the passage of components, such as a window raiser mechanism (4), mounted on a support plate (5) shaped for being applied in a sealed manner against the periphery of the opening. The support plate of the components has a dishing region (9) situated at the level of the articulation joints R1, R2 of the hips of passengers so as to constitute a pelvis thrust member in the event of a lateral impact on the door. The dishing region (9) is press formed and comprises a group of bosses (11) orientated in the direction toward the window glass (10) and interconnected on the side adjacent to the passengers by planar areas (12) of the support plate.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1998Date of Patent: April 8, 2003Assignee: Meritor Light Vehicle SystemsInventors: Carlo Bertolini, Thierry Pebre, Laurent Arquevaux

Patent number: 6029403Abstract: A method for mounting a carrier for a window-lifter mechanism in a shell of a vehicle door, the window lifter including at least one rail for guiding the window and the shell having an opening through which the carrier is introduced as well as, at its top, a well for the passage of the window; a) the rail is secured to its carrier with a mutual separation (d1) which is greater than the normal separation in the service position of the window lifter; b) the upper end of the rail is introduced into the shell; c) the upper end of the rail is made to enter the window well by raising the carrier and the window lifter; d) the lower end of the rail is passed over the lower rim of the opening; e) the carrier is pressed against a sealing border around the opening by lowering the assembly back down so that the lower end of the rail positions itself in the shell below the lower rim; f) and the rail is moved from its position of separation (d1) from the carrier into its normal service position (d2) by bringing it closer tType: GrantFiled: June 6, 1997Date of Patent: February 29, 2000Assignee: Meritor Light Vehicle Systems, LLCInventors: Carlo Bertolini, Thierry Pebre, Laurent Arquevaux

Patent number: 5407289Abstract: The device comprises a bearing (3) carrying the glass (1), a stud (6) extending throughout the bearing and fixed to a carriage (2) of the driving mechanism, and means for locking the bearing to the stud comprising an elastically yieldable member (7) adapted to be clipped to the bearing before inserting the stud in the latter and adapted to grip the stud so as to fix it to the bearing. The member (7) is a clip having two arms (8) which are capable of being elastically spread apart on each side of a central bore (5) provided in the bearing (3) for the passage of the stud (6), slots (11) being formed in the bearing each of which receives a respective arm of the member (7). This arrangement permits pre-assembling the locking member with the bearing before the insertion of the stud (6) and consequently avoiding the necessity of assembling the clip "blind" in the door with risk of a defective assembly or loss of the locking member.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1993Date of Patent: April 18, 1995Assignee: Rockwell Automotive Body SystemsInventor: Thierry Pebre

Patent number: 4770055Abstract: The device comprises a worm wheel (1) driven in rotation by a worm (2) coupled to the output shaft (3) of a motor-speed reducer (4), a gear pinion (5) associated with the worm wheel (1) for driving the accessory, and means interposed between the gear pinion (5) and the worm wheel (1) for absorbing the driving torque of the worm wheel when the accessory reaches the end of its travel and stops the rotation of the pinion (5). The shock absorbing means comprise a cam (6) fixed to the pinion (5) and having two opposed surfaces (6a, 6b), a pair of shoes (7a, 7b) in bearing relation to the surfaces (6a, 6b) of the cam and biased thereagainst by a metal spring (8) coaxial with the pinion (5) and the worm wheel (1) and surrounding the shoes, and elements (9a, 9b) drivenly connected to the worm wheel and transmitting to the shoes and to the cam and gear pinion the driving torque of the worm wheel.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1986Date of Patent: September 13, 1988Assignee: Compagnie Industrielle de Mecanismes en abrege C.I.M.Inventors: Claude Chevance, Thierry Pebre
