  • Patent number: 7586761
Abstract: A converter having a plurality of channels includes a transformer having a primary winding and at least one secondary winding. A first switch connected to the primary winding chops a substantially DC voltage in compliance with a first squarewave periodic signal to form an input signal presenting a positive sequence phase and a freewheel phase. A second switch at the input of one of the channels chops an output signal at the secondary winding corresponding to the channel in compliance with a second squarewave periodic signal. The converter also includes a measurement component for measuring a primary current and connected to the primary winding. The converter further includes a storage component for storing a plurality of measured values corresponding to the primary current, the values being measured at distinct times during the positive sequence phase of the input signal, and also includes a processor for processing the measured values.

  • Patent number: 7585307
Abstract: A system is provided for joining two tubular structures by a surgical stapling procedure. The system includes a series of sizers, a specifically designed graft, a loading unit, a wand, a tourniquet, and a stapling instrument. The sizers are for determining the diameter of a target aorta and the availability of a sufficient transected aortic length to perform a stapling procedure. The loading unit holds the graft in position in the body and deploys a circumferential line of staples through the graft and an overlapping end of the aorta. The graft includes a side port by which the loading unit holds the graft during the stapling procedure, and which may be closed once the stapling procedure has been completed. The wand may be used to introduce the loading unit and graft into the body, to position them within the transected aorta, and to hold them in place during the application of the tourniquet.

  • Publication number: 20090217844
Abstract: The present invention concerns the development of a simple, multipurpose, low cost, environmental friendly and safe binder formulation and related process, based on high volumes of alkaline activated class F fly ash residue (>760%) without ordinary Portland cement and related products, offering a wide scope of applications. More specifically, the universal binder is based on a very limited number of components (fly ash type F, Blast Furnace Slag and a mixture of alkali silicates and carbonates). The binder allows developing considerable strength at the early stage (at room temperature) and very high resistances at 28 days. The binder applies to pastes, mortars concretes and pre-cast with the same flexibility of an Ordinary Portland Cement.

  • Patent number: 7583196
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a system for detecting a body (801) in a zone (802) located proximate an interface (803). The body is illuminated by an electromagnetic radiation (804) comprising at least two different wavelengths, located in ranges corresponding to near infrared and to green-blue. The method comprises the following steps: selecting two wavelengths; providing, for each of said wavelengths, an image (805) of the interface and of the zone; extracting from said data of each image two sets of data (807) respectively representing at least one part of the body in the near infrared range and in the green-blue range; comparing said data sets (807). It is thus possible to detect the presence of a body by discriminating between a body entirely located beneath the interface and a body located at least partly above the interface.

  • Patent number: 7584043
Abstract: An method of synchronizing a signal coming from at least one sensor positioned on an engine with a periodic event of the engine such as the crankshaft rotation is disclosed having application for engine control. A crankshaft rotation signal indicative of a reference time (TR), with which the engine signal(s) is to be synchronized, is acquired. The effective time difference (D) between the reference time and the time that is the closest to each temporally acquired engine signal is measured. Then the coefficients of a fractional digital compensation filter (FSDF) for compensating for the fractional part (d) of the measured effective time difference are determined. Finally, this digital compensation filter is applied to each temporally sampled engine signal, allowing obtaining of a series of digitized samples resealed from reference time (TR) for each engine signal.

  • Publication number: 20090216330
Abstract: The invention relates to the preparation of an intervertebral space with a trial implant (9), the insertion of an implant (5, 6, 7), the inserters (13, 16), and the method for feeding and inserting the implant (5, 6, 7) by means of an oblique anterior approach. In the novel improved method, the associated instruments (13, 16) for inserting an implant (5, 6, 7) into an intervertebral space, in particular for the lumbar spine at an oblique anterior angle of 45° was developed, the left side of the body being preferred for insertion of the implant (5, 6, 7). Either the implant (5, 6, 7) can be inserted all in one, or first the upper part (5) and lower parts (7) and then the inlay (6) may be inserted. By insertion by means of the left oblique anterior approach at 45°, optimum utilization of the area of the intervertebral space is ensured (footprint), and better retention of the implant is guaranteed by the exact chiselling at an angle of 90° normal to the respective intervertebral surface.

  • Patent number: 7581075
Abstract: Computation of a metric, termed “memory pressure,” provides an indication of software application scalability, in terms of memory, when making changes to multi-user applications. The memory pressure metric may be measured on a single user application run and does not require running the application under load tests. Since the metric can be measured on single user application runs, software testing and assessment takes considerably less time, resulting in developer productivity increase.
