Patent number: 7675538Abstract: The present invention allows administrators of conference equipment, remotely localized from the ordinary managing interface, to execute simple commands for solving a problem that may have occurred during a conference or at conference set up. This is provided by a parser translating user terminal commands transmitted from the user terminal (e.g. a cellular phone) of the system administrator to Conference Management System codes, which are executed on the conference equipment in question from the Conference Management System. The present invention also allows system administrators to be alerted by a message (e.g. SMS) at any errors occurring during a conference or conference set up, and to correct the errors by responding to the alert without the need of addressing the equipment in which the errors occur.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2005Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: Tandberg Telecom ASInventors: Thies Schrader, Tom Ingebrigtsen

Patent number: 7561537Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for connecting one or more systems to a user for automatic determination of which system the user may use to participate in a call. A predefined list of video conferencing systems and/or locations for each user is predefined and arranged in a prioritized order. When scheduling a meeting and/or a video conference, the predefined user lists are taken into account when selecting end-points and other resources involved in the meeting/conference. The selection process may be controlled by predefined rules also taking various system availability, network resources and the routes required for connecting the other systems in the conference into account The present invention also introduces presence applications to facilitate scheduling and set up of ad hoc meetings/conferences.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2005Date of Patent: July 14, 2009Assignee: Tandberg Telecom ASInventors: Thies Schrader, Vegard Hammer

Patent number: 7456858Abstract: The present invention relates generally to conferencing network systems and more specifically to a method and a device for automatic generation and allocation of optimized setup of multiple end points (EPs) to multi site connection units (MCUs) in a distributed video conference system according to a weighting function. The invention further relates to a method and device for monitoring and administering distributed MCUs connected together and set up in a call in a distributed video conference system. By gathering and merging call information the method and system is capable of sending a specific command to the MCU capable of executing the command.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2004Date of Patent: November 25, 2008Assignee: Tandberg Telcom ASInventors: Thies Schrader, Axel Dahl, Magnus Rekkedal

Patent number: 7436428Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for an intuitive and easy-to-use multi-site ad hoc conference initiation by involving some or all features of a conference managing system. The main concept is to automatically reserve the resources needed to connect selected participants in a conference once the ad hoc conference is requested by the calling party.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2005Date of Patent: October 14, 2008Assignee: Tandberg Telecom ASInventors: Thies Schrader, Vegard Hammer

Publication number: 20050130638Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and a system for initiating, routing and scheduling conferences. A dial URL is introduced with a prefix unique for calling purposes. When a user activates such a URL in a web browser, a content handler associated with the browser recognizes the type of URL and sends a request to a managing tool to determine an available calling route between the user's preferred end-point and the end-point being addressed in the URL with the required resources. The managing tool then schedules the resources and initiates the call between the end-points. The invention allows for a one-click initiation of ad-hoc calls and conferences.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2004Publication date: June 16, 2005Inventor: Thies Schrader
