  • Patent number: 5466495
Abstract: Method of manufacturing a magnetic head, in which a transducing structure (1) comprising at least a transducing element (5) is formed on a substrate (3) by means of a thin-film technique, after which a thick film coating (23) is provided on an uneven surface (21), remote from the substrate, of the structure formed. The thick film has a thickness which is minimally equal to the distance between an area (21A) of said surface which is farthest remote from the substrate and an area (21B) which is most proximate to the substrate and is deposited on said surface by means of PE-CVD.

  • Patent number: 4708767
Abstract: Planarized insulating layers provided with planarized contacts are formed on semiconductor devices by forming vias through an insulating layer having a generally planar exposed surface, depositing a layer of a conductive layer on this upper surface of the insulating layer in an amount at least sufficient to at least partially fill all of the vias, depositing a planarized layer on the exposed surface of the conductive layer and then etching away the planarized layer and the conductive layer by use of an etchant that removes the planarized layer and the conductive layer at substantially the same rate, until the generally planar upper surface of the insulating layer is exposed.

  • Patent number: 4651249
Abstract: A magnetic head (1) having two core parts (2,3) of a magnetic material between which a non-magnetic transducing gap (4) is formed which has a central part (21) having a gap length which is selected to transduce the carrier frequency of a video signal and having a width which is defined by first and second side gaps (22,23) having gap lengths which are selected to suppress the carrier frequency of a video signal, the first and second side gaps (22,23) being bounded by indentations (7,8) in the sides of the core parts (2,3) and being filled with a material which bonds the two core parts (7,8) together.

  • Patent number: 4439294
Abstract: A method of providing grooves in a body of a soft-magnetic, iron-containing material. The method includes reactive ion etching the body in a chlorine-containing or bromine-containing plasma after providing the body areas not to be etched with a mask of an inorganic material such as Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.

  • Patent number: 4238277
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a magnetic device for propagating and detecting magnetic domains. At least one thin domain layer of a magnetizable material is provided on a nonmagnetic substrate body and hereon are provided a number of layers of which there are at least a detection layer of magnetoresistive material and a layer of electrically insulating nonmagnetic material. The latter is provided with a propagation layer of magnetizable material in a pattern which satisfies the requirements of propagation of magnetic domains and the requirements of detecting magnetic domains. The non-covered parts of at least the layer of electrically insulating, nonmagnetic material and of the layer of magnetoresistive material are successively removed, each time by means of a method which does not substantially attack the pattern of the material present above the relevant layer.
