Abstract: A sieve seal as a component embodied of one piece, consisting of a seal, which holds a sieve body so that it is enclosed over an inner free cross-sectional area. The present invention also relates to a method for sustained operation of a sieve seal of this kind. In order to provide a remedy in the event of a clogging and/or soot formation and an accumulation of deposits in the sieve seal, it is proposed that the sieve body is embodied for an electric current to flow through at least part of it in such a way that a temperature that is sufficient to eliminate at least significant parts of the deposits is achieved or a corresponding temperature threshold is exceeded.
