Abstract: An orthodontic appliance and method of debonding comprises providing a ceramic orthodontic bracket having an undersurface, securing a rigid epoxy layer having a minimum thickness of 0.010 inches and having a tooth engaging undersurface to the undersurface of the ceramic orthodontic bracket, adhesively securing the tooth engaging surface of the epoxy layer to a tooth, thereafter applying orthodontic forces to the ceramic orthodontic bracket, and thereafter crushing the epoxy layer to debond the orthodontic bracket from the tooth.

Abstract: An implant comprises a plastic body and a metallic, porous surface securely fixed to the body. The porous surface is attached to the body by infiltration of the body into the porous surface such that the body and porous surface interdigitate. A filler material is embedded in the porous surface to prevent total filling of the porous surface by the body.

Abstract: An implant comprises a plastic body and a metallic, porous surface securely fixed to the body. The implant is made by first producing a porous mold insert having a porous metal structure and a soluble filler material filling a portion of its pores. The mold insert is then placed in a mold and plastic is injected into the mold and the exposed pores of the insert to form the implant body and securely attach the body and insert. The implant is then contacted by a solvent which dissolves the filler material to expose that portion of the insert which had been filled.
