In one embodiment of the invention, the viscoelastic compound in dry form is mixed with an aqueous solution of the therapeutically active agent. The invention further relates to utilities of homogenous viscoelastic compositions in therapeutic applications including ophthalmic surgery.

As an IOL coating, copolymers according to the invention may be used, for example, to promote tissue adhesion for the prevention of posterior capsule opacification.
