Patent number: 11931045Abstract: A junctional tourniquet apparatus and related methods of use. An exemplary tourniquet has an inverted cone shape, wherein a narrower end has a mushroom shaped base that is pressed against a compression target and a broader end has a plurality of pass-through slots for straps. Another exemplary tourniquet has a broad plate component and a handle component. The handle component has a mushroom shaped base on a first end and a handle on a second end. The handle component passes through the center of the plate component with threads that allow the handle component to compress a target by twisting the handle.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: The United States of America, Represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Joseph Thomas Burkart, Danielle E. Cafasso, Robert Henry Hayford, Huckelberry Finne, Jose Ramirez Vargas, Michael P Abbott

Publication number: 20230259939Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for context-based verification flows for digital identity verification. A context-based verification system provides flexible identification procedures for various enterprises that are adapted to the enterprises' services, the enterprises' customers, and these customers' needs. For example, the context-based verification system determines first and second verification flows associated with a first enterprise and a third verification flow associated with a second enterprise. These verification flows include context parameters and verification parameters. The context-based verification system determines context parameters of a request, or “request context parameters,” when a user requests to interact with the first enterprise and determines a verification flow associated with context parameters that substantially match these request context parameters.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 17, 2023Publication date: August 17, 2023Inventors: William J. Dawson, V, Thomas Abbott, Trevor Thompson, Jonathan R. Todd, Karl McGuinness

Patent number: 7396278Abstract: The movable cleaning shoe frame is provided with internal sidewalls. The frame supports a sieve for receiving grain to be cleaned. The sieve is provided with longitudinally extending dividers that define a plurality of longitudinally extending grain flow channels. The sidewalls and the dividers are provided with cleaning shoe spreaders that extend into the longitudinally extending grain flow channels above the sieve. Movement of the cleaning shoe drives the spreaders to flap back and forth. This flapping action of the spreaders distributes the grain to be cleaned transversely across the sieve so that the cleaning assembly operates more efficiently.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2004Date of Patent: July 8, 2008Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Jeffrey Arthur Nelson, Jason Thomas Abbott, Kenneth Ralph Clifton

Publication number: 20050048547Abstract: A method for identification of biological characteristics is achieved by collecting a data set relating to individuals having known biological characteristics and analyzing the data set to identify biomarkers potentially relating to selected biological state classes. A system for identification of biological characteristics is also provided. A methodology is also provided for utilizing mass spectroscopy data to identify peptide and protein biomarkers that can be used to optimally discriminate experimental from control samples—where the experimental samples may, for instance, be derived from patients with various diseases such as ovarian cancer.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2004Publication date: March 3, 2005Inventors: Hongyu Zhao, Kenneth Williams, Baolin Wu, Kathryn Stone, Walter McMurray, Thomas Abbott

Patent number: 5486140Abstract: The disclosure involves a variable air volume (VAV) terminal unit having an inlet collar, a box-like compartment connected to the collar and an insulation layer on the exterior surface of the compartment. The compartment is made of non-fibrous, rigid sheet-like material and an air stream flows through the compartment in contact with the sheet-like material and along a path spaced from the insulation layer. A method for making the variable air volume terminal unit involves steps including forming a plurality of flat, panel-like insulating components and securing a separate component to each of at least two compartment surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1993Date of Patent: January 23, 1996Assignee: Venturedyne, Ltd.Inventors: Thomas A. Abbott, Stephen E. Cooley, Michael S. MacDonald

Patent number: 4118262Abstract: A lightweight composite fiber wound tubular member or casing, such as a rocket motor case, has one or more openings formed through one end portion of the wall thereof by orienting the filaments or fibers around each opening to provide reinforcement for loads applied to fasteners passing through said openings. The orientation of the filaments or fibers is such as to receive and transfer loads applied to the walls of the openings in the tubular member in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of the tubular member. A method of manufacturing the tubular member is disclosed which includes winding the filaments or fibers along a helical path and around the area defining each opening, together with the apparatus for performing the method.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1976Date of Patent: October 3, 1978Assignee: Brunswick CorporationInventor: Harry Thomas Abbott
