  • Publication number: 20090026206
Abstract: A cooking apparatus combines an open top container, a lid adapted to attach to the container and an opening in the lid for placement of a venting film over the opening. The venting film and lid maintain the seal of the container, with the venting film allowing for pressure relief. The venting film can be retained over the opening using a second lid or other attachment device, or be part of the first lid. The apparatus can include additional lids to seal the container, or seal the opening in the first lid.

  • Patent number: 7208021
Abstract: In one aspect, the present invention provides a method for fabricating two layers separated by a gap comprising the steps of: (a) providing a first material; (b) treating the first material to reduce the number of available bonding centers; (c) placing a second material over the first material and allowing bonds to form between the two materials to form a composite; and (d) separating the composite so formed along the boundary of the two materials. In a further aspect, subsequent layers of material may be introduced to the composite by repeating steps (b) and (c) under conditions where adhesion between the subsequent layers is greater, smaller or substantially the same as the adhesion between the first and second material.

  • Patent number: 6728708
Abstract: A relational and spatial database management system and method designed to more accurately and efficiently generate and manage relational and spatial databases for commercial and/or personal use. The invention generally comprises one or more sensor devices, a computer, and software. The invention may be deployed on a portable computer thereby allowing a user to operate the system in the field and gather data while moving around. The software is configurable and programmable for many different applications. The software system can simultaneously take inputs from one or more sensor devices, record the inputs in a relational and/or spatial database, and display the data in a form that is easy to manipulate. The Graphical User Interface displays a visual presentation of the form alongside a map of the geographic location of interest where data is being collected.

  • Patent number: 6530333
Abstract: An apparatus 10 and method for excavating, transporting, and transplanting a live tree. The invention relates more specifically to equipment, which utilizes curved ground piercing excavation blades 42 moveably supported on a ring assembly 50 that is pivotally supported in a support frame 20. The ring assembly and the support frame may be positioned around the tree and the blades forced into the ground to excavate a root ball which can thereafter be lifted and transported for subsequent transplantation. The ring assembly 50 may be tilted rearward to permit transporting the tree in a rearward inclined or tilted position, such that wind an obstacle damage to the branches and limbs may be reduced as compared to forward tilting movers. In addition, the rearward tilt may accommodate tilting relatively tall trees at angles of up to 90 degrees from vertical, in order to transport the tree under relatively low over-head clearance obstacles, such as bridges, other trees, and porta cocheres.

  • Patent number: 6520040
Abstract: A control method/system for controlling range section (14) shifting in a range-type transmission (10) having a “repeat-H” shift mechanism. Under certain conditions, a shift from the highest ratio position in low range (4/8) toward the lowest ratio position (1/5) will cause an automatic shift to the high range, even if the range selector (96) is in the low range selection position.

  • Patent number: 6253690
Abstract: This invention relates generally to an apparatus and a method for excavating and transplanting a live tree. The invention relates more specifically to equipment which utilizes curved ground piercing blades moveably supported on a ring assembly positioned around a tree to be transplanted, the blades being forced and guided down into the ground to completely encompass a tree root ball which can thereafter be lifted out of the ground and transported for subsequent transplantation. Both the apparatus and the method facilitate the excavation and transplantation of trees with low limbs and crooked trunks to and/or from uneven or sloping terrain, and may be utilized with any of the prime movers of adequate towing capacity available at an excavation site.

  • Patent number: 5373825
Abstract: A gasifying device is fed oil from the return spill rail of a diesel engine, or from a reservoir of oil and gasifies the lighter fractions of the oil using an electrical heater, the gasified products being fed to the air intake manifold of the engine. In one embodiment unvaporized oil is fed from the gasifying device to the oil supply line to the engine, thereby avoiding a build-up of heavy oil components in the device. Several embodiments are disclosed. The device improves the handling performance of a vehicle fitted with the engine, the exhaust emissions, and the fuel economy. The device may also be fitted to a petrol engine.

  • Patent number: 4849070
Abstract: A sublimable layer is deposited on a substrate, holes are etched through sublimable layer, a thin-layer structure is deposited on portions of the remaining sublimable layer, and a thick structural support material is deposited to cover the sides and bottoms of the holes and portions of the thin-layer structure. When the sublimable layer is sublimed with the heat, photon enhancement (ultraviolet light) and oxygen purging, a structure is left which consists of a thin layer or layers supported by posts above a substrate.

  • Patent number: 3993919
Abstract: This specification describes means that permit the variation of circuits, particularly latch circuits, used in programmable logic array chips (PLAs). The latch circuits are changeable to enable the selection of one of three different latch configurations to be used or in combination on the same PLA chip. The differences in the circuit configurations of the different types of latches occur only in metallization pattern of the chip so that chips with different latch configurations can be manufactured with a minimum of different processing steps.
