  • Publication number: 20200352275
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved orthotic device adapted to be inserted into a high-heeled or raised-heel shoe and to receive a human foot thereon. The orthotic device may be operable to adhere to the sole of the shoe and may comprise a proximal contoured slope operable to prevent migration and increase acceptance of body weight at the heel of the wearer's foot and may comprise a distal contoured slope operable to support the arch of the wearer's foot, preventing the foot from sliding forward and focusing excessive painful pressure at the user's toes. The orthotic device may also have dual layers of adhesive material separated by a peel-away backing, and an inferior surface concavity with a channel allowing solvent to be used to dissolve the adhesive if the orthotic device needs to be repositioned or changed to a new shoe.

  • Patent number: 9035762
Abstract: A method and system for determining a location of a first device that emits a signal: provide at least three sensors separated and spaced apart from each other; at each of the sensors, receive the signal emitted by the first device; determine the received signals for each of the sensors; determine cross-correlations of the received signals for pairs of the sensors; and determine the location of the first device from the magnitudes of the cross-correlations of the received signals.

  • Patent number: 8504322
Abstract: A system and a method for displaying an emitter location are disclosed. The system includes a plurality of receivers at different locations in a field. Each receiver generates a receiver signal that depends on the magnitude of a signal from the emitter. The system also includes a processor that receives the receiver signal and generates a likelihood map indicative of an approximation of a probability as a function of position in the field of the emitter location. The likelihood map includes a plurality of receiver maps. Each receiver map includes a probability as a function of position in the field of the emitter location based on the signal magnitude for at least one of the receiver signals. Each receiver map may depend on a ratio of the signal magnitudes from a corresponding pair of the receivers, or on one of the signal magnitudes from a corresponding one of the receivers.

  • Patent number: 6309889
Abstract: The invention provides exemplary devices and methods to facilitate the performance of assays. In one embodiment, one such device comprises a holding member having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a plurality of holding locations that are adapted to hold at least one article, such as a solid support and/or a cell. When within the holding locations, the articles are preferably disposed below the top surface. A membrane is positioned above the top surface of the holding member, and a pressure system is provided to apply positive pressure to the membrane to force the membrane against the top surface of the holding member. In this way, a seal may be provided between the holding locations.

  • Patent number: 5743389
Abstract: Prepared flat paper stock blank is disposed for assembly into a dual-configuration food and beverage carrier, selectively folded into an upright box with upward-extending side walls and end walls with handle panels extending from the box base around the side walls and meeting over the box as a handle or alternatively into an inverted box with downwardly-extending side and end walls with handle panels extending from the base upward and away from the side walls. When the handle panels are folded toward and around the base side walls, the carrier is disposed to enclose foodstuffs placed in the carrier. When the handle panels are folded away from the base side walls, the carrier becomes a cup and cone carrier, the box being carried inverted. One or more holes are provided in the base section for receiving cups and cones. Hinged sectors are provided at the hole perimeter to cover the hole, lightly connected until mildly urged downward to receive a cup thereby breaking the light connection.
