  • Publication number: 20190388508
Abstract: About 5-10% of all fractures result in delayed or impaired healing. Impaired bone fracture is difficult for the patient, and is very expensive for the medical system. The present disclosure provides methods of treating impaired bone fracture healing comprising administration of an effective amount of progranulin or progranulin derivatives to a subject suffering from delayed or impaired bone fracture healing. The disclosure also provides medical compositions and formulations comprising progranulin or progranulin derivatives to be used in the treatment of impaired bone fracture healing.

  • Patent number: 8372157
Abstract: An osteoconductive backing implant for joint revisions is provided that may enhance bone healing and, for cementless implants, bony integration of the implant. The backing implant comprises a generally planar surface that may be formed into a generally hemispherical shape. In one embodiment, the backing implant comprises a disc having an inner hole and an outer edge, at least one slit extending from the inner hole to the outer edge. The disc may be formed from a coherent mass of elongate, mechanically entangled demineralized bone particles.

  • Publication number: 20120041444
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of composite materials that can be prepared and delivered to an implant area. The composite materials may be a biocomposite remodeling bone cement (BRBC) material. In one embodiment of the invention the material is introduced in an interface between a first bone and a first joint implant component.

  • Patent number: 4782833
Abstract: An instrument for the boring of bones to remove a cylindrical section of bone for medical purposes has a one-way drive means which allows the surgeon to oscillate his hand motion while the instrument cuts bone in one direction only. The instrument has a trephine engaging mechanism which allows for the interchangeability of trephines so that a plurality of different types and sizes of trephines can be used to obtain bone cores from a range of bone types.
