  • Patent number: 7581652
Abstract: A tamper-indicating closure includes a plastic shell having a base wall with an annular skirt, at least one internal thread segment on the skirt, a tamper band frangibly connected to the skirt, and a circumferential array of angularly spaced flexible resilient ratchet wings extending counterclockwise from an inner surface of the tamper band at an angle to the inner surface. A flexible resilient sealing liner on the base wall within the skirt has a conical sealing surface that faces radially outwardly toward the skirt and axially away from the base wall. The conical sealing surface is resiliently engageable with a trim flange of a container to which the closure is applicable so that the tamper band separates from the annular skirt before loss of sealing engagement between the liner and the trim flange.

  • Publication number: 20080223813
Abstract: A tamper-indicating package includes a container having a neck finish with at least one external thread segment, at least two angularly spaced sets of external ratchet teeth spaced from the thread segment and a circumferentially extending radial enlargement between the two sets of ratchet teeth. A closure includes a skirt with at least one internal thread segment engaging the external thread segment on the container neck finish, a tamper band frangibly connected to the skirt, and a circumferential array of internal engagement elements on the tamper band for engaging the ratchet teeth on the neck finish to prevent rotation of the tamper band with respect to the ratchet teeth and thereby sever the tamper band from the closure skirt upon first unthreading of the closure from the container neck finish.

  • Publication number: 20070034591
Abstract: A tamper-indicating package includes a container having a neck finish with an open end, at least one external thread segment, and first and second sets of angularly spaced ratchet teeth in diametrically opposed arrays spaced from the open end of the neck finish. A closure has a base wall with an annular skirt and at least one internal thread segment on the skirt for engagement with the external thread segment on the container neck finish to secure the closure to the container. A circumferential array of angularly spaced flexible resilient ratchet wings extend counterclockwise from an inner surface of the tamper band at an angle to such inner surface. A flexible resilient sealing liner is provided on the base wall within the skirt, and has an annular surface that faces radially outwardly toward the skirt and axially away from the base wall.

  • Patent number: 6170720
Abstract: A closure for a fluid product dispensing package that includes a tubular body for securement to a container, and having a central flow passage and a cylindrical peg axially spaced from the flow passage. A spout has a dispensing orifice, and is mounted on the base for movement between an open position in which the dispensing orifice is axially spaced from the peg to permit product flow through the passage around the peg and through the orifice, and a closed position in which the dispensing orifice closely surrounds the peg to block product flow. The dispensing orifice is circular, and has three angularly spaced recesses extending radially outwardly from and arcuately around the opening forming air vents with the peg in the closed position of the spout.

  • Patent number: 6076507
Abstract: A pump system for preventing hot start knock in a diesel engine following engine shut down carried by fuel leakage into one or more of the combustion chambers of a multiple-cylinder internal combustion engine equipped with a fuel system including open nozzle injectors connected with a common rail. The system includes a transfer pump (46) in fluid communication with the common rail (50) and the fuel tank (48) for pumping fuel out of the common rail and into the fuel tank. A transfer pump control module (82) is provided for actuating the transfer pump (46) for a period of time following engine shut down to remove a sufficient amount of fuel from the common rail to prevent fuel from leakage through the open nozzles. The control system module may include a timer (96) and a voltage sensor (86) to sense condition of a fuel shut off valve (64). A retrofit kit (FIG. 5) is provided including a control module bracket (98) and a transfer module bracket (102).

  • Patent number: 4714181
Abstract: A molded plastic cap suitable for large condiment bottles. The cap is of the type which are threaded onto the mouth of the bottle and contains an inner sealing liner. The sealing liner is compressed by the cap against the bottle mouth upon application thereto. The sealing liner cap includes a reinforcing bridge portion and flat circular land portion for press sealing the liner against the bottle rim mouth. The bridge portion includes ribs which are substantially flush with the land portion on the inside surface. The configuration of the cap assembly provides a structure which is attractive in appearance and is free of dimensional distortions.

  • Patent number: 4373661
Abstract: A paperboard carton with improved tear resistance and blanks therefor for packaging a product such as bacon, said carton having an inspection flap for viewing the contents and scoring lines which provide easy opening of the carton. The tear resistance of said carbon is improved by the positioning of the scoring lines which are located such that lines of force initially created by lifting the inspection flap do not intersect a ply-separation area located within the edge section of the top panel.
