  • Patent number: 4828802
Abstract: A method for supplying spent catalyst to a catalyst regenerator comprises (1) guiding the flow of spent catalyst from the lower end of a spent catalyst standpipe downwardly therefrom and (2) curving the downward flow of spent catalyst away from the wall of the catalyst regenerator towards the vertical center line of the air distributor for providing the most thorough and even distribution of spent catalyst and air. An extension tube means for performing the method is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 23, 1982
Date of Patent: May 9, 1989
    Assignee: Texaco Inc.
Inventors: James H. Colvert, Thomas A. Lionetti, John P. MacLean
  • Patent number: 4610851
Abstract: An improved air ring for a regenerator in a fluid catalytic cracking process in which a baffle extends vertically downward from the air ring for a critical length. The baffle prevents catalyst erosion on the underside of the air ring and improves air distribution in the catalyst bed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 28, 1984
Date of Patent: September 9, 1986
Inventors: James H. Colvert, Thomas A. Lionetti
  • Patent number: 4595145
Abstract: An improved air distribution apparatus for a regenerator in a fluid catalytic cracking process has been invented. The improvement is in the nozzles which eject air from an air ring to a bed of coke deactivated catalyst. The nozzles are positioned to take air from the centerline of the air ring and are of length 4 to 8 diameters. The nozzles are noted for reduced aspirated catalyst erosion.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 17, 1986
    Assignee: Texaco Inc.
Inventors: Roy E. Pratt, Thomas A. Lionetti, John P. MacLean
  • Patent number: 4443551
Abstract: A method as described in the title comprising deflecting the gas from the distributor through nozzles therein through an angle in the range of 30.degree. to 75.degree. for decreased erosion in the nozzles by solids drawn therein and for reduced required power consumption. A new gas distributor with nozzles mounted therein is disclosed.

    Assignee: Texaco Inc.
Inventors: Thomas A. Lionetti, John P. MacLean
  • Patent number: 4388175
Abstract: A process for the production of highly aromatic petroleum fractions from various petroleum feedstocks suitable for catalytic cracking in a fluidized catalytic cracking unit wherein heavy gas oil from a first fluidized catalytic cracking unit is subjected to further catalytic cracking in a separate fluid catalytic cracking unit at temperatures in the range of 565.degree. to 650.degree. C. producing light olefins and a heavy gas oil consisting of essentially aromatic components suitable for the production of needle coke, and the method of producing needle coke from various hydrocarbon cracking stocks.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 14, 1983
    Assignee: Texaco Inc.
Inventors: Thomas A. Lionetti, Charles H. Schrader
  • Patent number: 4069141
Abstract: A topped crude oil is admixed with a hydrocarbon solvent and centrifuged in the presence of a brine carrier to produce a hydrocarbon solvent-fuel oil mixture and a brine-asphalt-fuel oil mixture, the latter mixture being recovered and admixed with a ketone solvent which effects emulsion breaking and extracts residual fuel oil, a ketone solvent rich phase being subsequently recovered and subjected to fractionation to separate the fuel oil from the ketone solvent, the latter being recycled for further usage.
