  • Patent number: 8875837
Abstract: A musical performance riser having an interior area and a rigid block made from multiple layers of foam material of varying densities incorporated within that area. The block further includes a number of holes or chambers to trap sound. When the riser is used in performances, sound waves created by the object placed on the riser are reduced or dissipated as they travel down the block through the foam layers and chambers with the result being reduced acoustic interference and a better listening experience for the audience. The riser also includes specialized removable casters supported against rubber isolation feet that further serve to reduce the unwanted interference.

  • Patent number: 8856104
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention enable processing of concept-based query requests submitted to a query service within a healthcare transaction framework. In embodiments, a terminology service within the healthcare transaction framework manages terminology content (concepts represented by a set of terminologies). In embodiments, search criteria from a data access query request are submitted to the terminology service to extract a set of concepts from the terminology content that are associated with the search criteria. In embodiments, equivalence search criteria include a seed concept, and the terminology service returns a set of equivalent concepts comprising the seed concept. In embodiments, classification search criteria include a classification identifier, and the terminology service returns a set of concepts associated with the classification identifier. In embodiments, the query service generates and submits a data access query comprising predicates associated with the returned set of concepts.

  • Publication number: 20140216059
Abstract: A cold box having a cooling receptacle filled with a dry protective gas in which is accommodated a rack loaded with tube-shaped vessels. The cooling receptacle is covered by a displaceable lid which is associated with a lid part and which is preferably formed by an outer lid and a rotatable inner lid integrated in the outer lid so that the cooling receptacle is completely covered in every position of the lid. At least one of the through-holes provided in the inner lid can be arranged over a respective tube-shaped vessel by a coordinated displacement of the outer lid and rotation of the inner lid so that the tube-shaped vessel located under the through-hole in alignment therewith can be filled with a sample through the through-hole by means of a commercially available pipette tip/dispensing needle of an automated pipetting device.

  • Patent number: 8695274
Abstract: A single use, hermetically sealing mousetrap has a housing defining an enclosure that contains a killing mechanism which is accessible through a rotatably mounted door controlled by a spring-loaded door opening gear mechanism. Mounted to the bottom of the housing inside the enclosure is a spring-actuated setting axle and setting bar combination that is movable between a tripped position and a set position by manipulation of a setting handle positioned outside the enclosure. When the setting axle is moved to the set position, the door opening gear mechanism causes the door to open while tensioning a torsional door spring. A trip latch and bait pedal are configured to operate together to secure the setting bar in the set position, with subsequent movement of the bait pedal by a mouse serving to release the trip latch. When the trap is thereby triggered, the setting bar moves to the tripped position where it both activates the killing mechanism and releases the door opening gear mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8602715
Abstract: A device for loading, storing and providing objects having standardized dimensions includes a storage unit with a carrier plate and four stackers. Each stacker includes a bottom surface disposed on top of the carrier plate. The stackers are configured to store objects stacked perpendicular to the carrier plate. The stackers are disposed symmetrically centered around a rotation axis that is perpendicular to the carrier plate and offset with respect to each other by an angle of 90°. A substructure is disposed underneath the carrier plate. An unloading device is configured to unload a selected object from a first of the stackers that is disposed in a transfer position. The storage unit is rotatable around the rotation axis so as to enable movement of each of the stackers into the transfer position.

  • Publication number: 20120138882
Abstract: An in-line strainer for placement within a span of wire fence to apply tension thereto is provided. The in-line strainer includes a reel having a hollow central hub for receiving a torque limiting mechanism. The torque limiting mechanism includes a central axle and a spring mechanism. As the axle is manually rotated, the reel is also rotated through its engagement with the torque limiting mechanism until a target tension on the wire is reached. Once the target tension has been reached, the torque limiting mechanism disengages, allowing the axle to “slip” relative to the reel, preventing further rotation of the reel and, consequently, further tensioning of the wire. In addition, the in-line strainer includes a failure mechanism which ensures that, when the load threshold on the fence is exceeded, the in-line strainer will automatically release tension on the wire wound thereon in a predictable and safe manner.

  • Patent number: 7889048
Abstract: A variable resistor network has a coarse resistance network and a fine resistance network connected in series with the coarse network. The coarse resistance network comprises a chain of series-connected resistors any one or more of which may be switched out of the series by individual parallel-connected relays. The fine network comprises a shunt resistor together with a fixed resistor and a series-connected adjustable resistor together connected in parallel with the shunt resistor. A control circuit is arranged to control the relays for the switching of the resistors of the coarse network and also to control adjustment of the adjustable resistor. A chosen resistance value can be set by appropriate switching of the coarse network and adjustment of the adjustable resistor.
