  • Publication number: 20160014395
Abstract: Embodiments herein provide for imaging and identification of obscured objects. One system herein includes a volumetric data source comprising three dimensional (3D) imaging data of a scene, and a two dimensional (2D) image source comprising 2D image data of the scene. The system also includes a processor operable to process the 2D data and the 3D data to generate a model of a material obscuring an object in the scene from sensors providing the 2D data and the 3D data. The processor is further operable to refine the model with detection data of the material from the volumetric data source, to detect the material obscuring the object based on the refined model, to generate an image of the scene, and to remove data pertaining to the material from the image to reveal the object in the image.

  • Patent number: 9225143
Abstract: A compact laser is provided for in accordance with an exemplary embodiment in the present disclosure includes a compact resonator structure using a non-planar geometry of bulk components. The laser includes a preferred rotational direction of lasing modes and employs bulk components for establishing the preferred rotational direction of lasing modes within resonator. In some embodiments, the preferred rotational direction of lasing modes is established using a reflective element that is outside the resonator structure. In some embodiments, the reflective element induces polarization shifts in the reflected light that are compensated for by a wave plate, which may be outside the resonator structure.

  • Publication number: 20150140890
Abstract: A spark pole is useful for controlling the movement of a rider of a wheeled device over a skating surface, and for generating sparks as the rider moves with respect to the skating surface. The spark pole has a shaft with a handle at one end and a grinding head at the other end. The grinding head supports at least one spark-producing body that generates sparks when it frictionally engages a skating surface. The grinding head also has a grinding head for frictional engagement with the skating surface to control the rider's movement along the skating surface. • Publication number: 20140364159
Abstract: A system and method of sending a message to a cellular device having a non-dialable number is described. The system and method can use a standard cellular short code, and by associating the consumer handset with one or more M2M cellular subscriptions/devices enable communications between handsets and private M2M devices. The consumer handset sends an SMS to a short code which is delivered to an SMS Private Routing mechanism which then uses a pre-assigned association between the handset and the M2M device to route the SMS to the M2M cellular device using the private phone number.

  • Publication number: 20130302819
Abstract: A method for the early identification and prediction of abrupt reduction in kidney function in a patient undergoing cardiothoracic (CT) surgery, including Cardio-Pulmonary Bypass (CPB), comprises contacting a urine sample from the patient with a capture molecule for a biomarker, especially ?GST specific for the distal region of the renal tubule and which biomarker is released from said region when there is damage to said region indicative and predictive of an abrupt reduction in kidney function, the biomarker being detectable as early as intraoperatively or in the recovery stage post CT surgery, for example prior to transfer of the patient to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), allowing for immediate corrective medical intervention. The method can be used to detect Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and a requirement for Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) namely dialysis, earlier than two hours post CT surgery and as early as zero hours post or during CT surgery or CPB.
