  • Patent number: 6252347
Abstract: A field emission display having a focusing grid disposed between the anode and a plurality of cathodes. The focusing grid comprises a conductive sheet having an array of apertures formed therein. Each one of the cathodes comprises a set of field emitters. Each aperture is associated with a corresponding set of field emitters. The conductive sheet is disposed over the corresponding set of field emitters. The sheet is supported at the periphery thereof by a frame with the interior portion of the sheet suspended in tension by the frame thereby supporting the grid substantially equidistant over the sets of field emitters. A method is provided for supporting the sheet in tension by the frame includes the steps of providing a clamp having a pair of apertured members. A first member has a groove disposed about the periphery of such member. A ring member is provided.

  • Patent number: 5092525
Abstract: A convergent/divergent gas turbine engine exhaust nozzle having reverse thrust capability includes a door which blocks a reverse flow outlet port when the nozzle convergent flap is in any forward thrust operating mode. The door is coupled to the convergent nozzle flap such that it opens as the convergent nozzle flap moves to a reverse thrust position and the flap directs the exhaust gases through the reverser outlet. Coupling is accomplished by a cam track connected to the blocker door and a cam track connected to the convergent flap, with a cam follower interconnecting the two cam tracks. As the convergent flap is rotated, the cams and cam follower cause appropriate movement of the blocker door.

  • Patent number: 4798328
Abstract: A plurality of cascade vanes (28, 29, 30) for directing a flow of gas (20) is provided with at least one flow regulating vane (36) which counterrotates with respect to the cascade vanes (28, 29, 30) over a gas flow vectoring range of motion. The cascade vanes (28, 29, 30) and flow regulating vane (36) corotate when moving through an adjacent stowing range of motion for achieving a stowed, gas flow blocking arangement.

  • Patent number: 4131990
Abstract: A method of installing rotor bars in a dynamoelectric machine rotor of the type having a shaft, a laminated magnetic core carried by the shaft, with the core having a plurality of arcuately spaced longitudinal passageways therethrough for accommodating the rotor bars. The rotor bars are inserted in the core with end portions of the bars protruding beyond the end laminations at opposite ends of the core, and a pair of end rings disposed at opposite ends of the core are joined to the protruding end portions of the rotor bars. The axially facing inner end surface of each end ring has a series of arcuately spaced radially extending channels formed therein with intervening arcuately spaced radially extending ribs defined therebetween, with the channels receiving the protruding end portions of the rotor bars therein, and with the ribs bearing tightly against the end laminations at opposite ends of the laminated core to maintain the laminated core in tightly compressed condition.
