  • Patent number: 11946848
Abstract: For analyzing a sample containing particles of at least two categories, such as a sample containing blood cells, a particle counter subject to a detection limit is coupled with an analyzer capable of discerning particle number ratios, such as a visual analyzer, and a processor. A first category of particles can be present beyond detection range limits while a second category of particles is present within respective detection range limits. The concentration of the second category of particles is determined by the particle counter. A ratio of counts of the first category to the second category is determined on the analyzer. The concentration of particles in the first category is calculated on the processor based on the ratio and the count or concentration of particles in the second category.

  • Patent number: 10886031
Abstract: A combination flux loop and B-dot probe comprising a single mineral insulated cable having an outer sheath of, e.g., stainless steel or the like, and three (3) conductors positioned within the sheath and embedded in a mineral insulator such as, e.g., MgO. One of the conductors forms a flux loop having a single loop and second and third conductors forming a B-dot probe comprises a single wire having a double loop. The combination probe is configured to prevent twisting of the conductors along a curved bend as the combined probe is fashioned into a curved shape. To prevent twisting, the conductors may be formed as ribbon wires having a generally flat, rectangular shaped cross-section and/or the sheath may have a generally oval or rectangular shaped cross-section.

  • Patent number: 10831484
Abstract: In an embodiment, a processor includes hardware circuitry and/or supports instructions which may be used to detect that a return address or jump address has been modified since it was written to memory. In response to detecting the modification, the processor may be configured to signal an exception or otherwise initiate error handling to prevent execution at the modified address. In an embodiment, the processor may perform a cryptographic sign operation on the return address/jump address before writing the signed return address/jump address to memory and the signature may be verified before the address is used as a return target or jump target. Security of the system may be improved by foiling ROP/JOP attacks.

  • Publication number: 20060158347
Abstract: An automated meter reading (AMR) device adapted to be synchronized by a signal provided by a remote device. The AMR device may be synchronized to a standardized clock, such as the automatic clock provided by NIST out of Boulder Colo. USA on station WWVB. Advantageously, this external clock re-synchronizes the internal clock of the AMR device to compensate for clock drift, such as caused by differences in crystal oscillation.

  • Publication number: 20050165704
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved and simplified method for preparing and merging mailings from two or more separate mailings. The method includes evaluating a plurality of bundles of mailings, and merging one or more of the bundles of mailings into at least one merged mailing. Each of the plurality of bundles of mailings is evaluated in regards to at least one evaluation characteristic to determine an optimal combination of bundles of mailings such that the merged mailing has an optimal value for the at least one evaluation characteristic. This method uses low cost equipment with a simplified process to combine multiple batches of mail to a single mailing onto pallets in a manner that provides for easy postal service verification of postage required. The primary benefit is a method to achieve the lowest cost when mailer preparation, copalletization, transportation and postage costs are considered.

  • Publication number: 20050048755
Abstract: A top-most layer (64) is formed over a bond pad layer (62) and under a passivation layer (68) and a polyimide layer (72). Openings (70 and 74) are formed within the passivation layer (68) and the polyimide layer (72) to expose the top-most layer (64), which protects the bond pad layer (62) during the formation of the openings (70 and 74). In one embodiment, the exposed top-most layer (64) is selectively etched using hydrogen peroxide and an amine, such as ammonium hydroxide. Because the chemistry does not attack the bond pad layer (62), the bond pad layer's thickness is not decreased and thus, reliability of the bond pad is maintained.

  • Patent number: 5257033
Abstract: A transmitter has a transmitting antenna which may be formed as a loop etched onto a printed circuit board. The transmitting system includes an oscillator which generates a signal at a fundamental frequency to be transmitted and which is fed to a radiating loop or transmitting antenna. Located inside of this loop, and which may also be etched onto the printed circuit board, is an inner passive loop which is in series with a capacitor or which is connected to the outer loop by the capacitor. The size of the capacitor and the printed inner loop operate to remove harmonics of the fundamental frequency generated by the oscillator. In this way, the present invention operates to transmit a signal at a fundamental frequency which is at a high power level while lowering the power of signals unintentionally transmitted at harmonics of this fundamental frequency by utilizing a circuit which is simple, inexpensive and compact.

  • Patent number: 5243322
Abstract: A microprocessor controlled automobile security system provides several features for enhanced operability. The system allows a receiving unit to learn a plurality of operating codes from a plurality of uniquely coded transmitters with which it can operate, thereby allowing each transmitting unit to be sold separately from each receiving unit. The system also allows for an operator to personally set the threshold at which a signal detected by a shock detector will result in an alarm being triggered. The system is further selectively operable in either a manual arming mode or a passive arming mode. The system also allows selective operation in either a full current sensing mode in which either a detected shock above an absolute threshold or a .DELTA. threshold, or current flow above a predetermined level, will trigger an alarm system or operation in a shock and current integration mode in which if a detected current exceeding a predetermined threshold and a shock above an absolute or .DELTA.

  • Patent number: 4636581
Abstract: An apparatus which routes electrical conductors through a sealed opening in a wall using a flexible printed wiring cable is disclosed. The apparatus includes a thermoplastic material injection molded around a flexible printed wiring cable. Within the molded object, the cable contains two sections where cable conductors are not enclosed within flexible printed wiring insulation. The two sections are separated by a third section in which cable conductors are enclosed within insulation. The cable additionally contains an increased amount of conductor material where the cable enters and exits the molded object. Two O-rings are contained within the periphery of the molded object.
