  • Publication number: 20220194681
Abstract: A recyclable film contains a base film and a sealant. The base film has at least one layer containing a polar polymer and at least one layer containing a polar polymer compatibilizer. Additionally, the base film has been oriented and annealed such that it exhibits free shrink of less than 10% in both the ma chine direction and the transverse direction when exposed to heat of 90° C. The film may be used for demanding retort processing applications. This film has advantages over prior recyclable films in efficient film manufacturing, high quality package production and superior package performance.

  • Publication number: 20210291503
Abstract: A recyclable film contains a base film of polyethylene that has been oriented, annealed, and irradiatively crosslinked, and a sealant. The base film has a free shrink rate of less than 10% in both the machine direction and the transverse direction when exposed to heat of 90° C. These recyclable films are ideal for use as packaging components that can be hermetically heat sealed to themselves or other packaging components, while maintaining low shrink and excellent appearance.

  • Publication number: 20200324513
Abstract: Recyclable films for packaging a product have a composition comprising a polyethylene, and the film is oriented and irradiatively cross-linked. The recyclable films have excellent heat resistant properties, Multilayer films for packaging a product comprise an outer film comprising any recyclable film of the disclosure and a sealant layer or film. Onset of sticking by an outer surface of the recyclable film upon exposure to heat sealing conditions is at least 5 to 15° C. higher than a comparative outer surface of a comparative outer film comprising the polyethylene that is not oriented and irradiatively cross-linked.

  • Publication number: 20170074245
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of controlling a wind turbine, the wind turbine comprising wind turbine blades attached to a rotor hub and a control system for pitching the blades relative to the rotor hub. The method comprises determining a wind speed and providing a normal pitch mode of operation to control the output power of the wind turbine, where the pitch mode of operation comprises pitch reference values in dependence of the wind speed. The output power of the turbine is controlled according to the normal pitch mode of operation as a function of the wind speed if the wind speed is lower than a first upper level wind speed threshold, and according to a modified mode of operation if the wind speed exceeds the first upper level threshold wind speed, wherein the modified mode of operation comprises decreasing the output power according to a de-rating function which is a function of time.

  • Publication number: 20080095960
Abstract: Compositions and packaging films are provided having a multilayer oxygen barrier comprising an EVOH copolymer layer in contact with at least one polyamide layer. The EVOH copolymer compositions preferably comprise about 44 mol %, or less, of ethylene. Multilayer packaging films can optionally include an exterior layer comprising heat resistant materials such as polyester or polyamide. The multilayer oxygen barriers described herein can provide high shrink films with desirably high oxygen barrier properties. The oxygen barriers can be used in making heat-shrinkable films and food packages having desirable high levels of free shrink.

  • Publication number: 20070114445
Abstract: The invention pertains to a dosimeter using a canister-type irradiator having a void area adapted to contain material to be processed by irradiation and absolute dose distribution indicia which indicia comprises (i) a radiochromic, self-developing, radiation sensitive film enclosed in a radiation transmitting leak proof housing and fixedly mounted in the canister and (ii) an absolute dosage measuring amount of alanine fixedly mounted in a leak proof receptacle on the outer surface of the housing at a location overlaying said film. The invention also relates to an improved canister-type irradiator apparatus and its method of operation.
