    Abstract: Presented are vehicle display systems for generating digital window stickers that enable connected vehicle applications, methods for making/using such display systems, and vehicles equipped with such display systems. A method of operating a vehicle display system includes a passenger cabin telematics unit receiving a selection from a vehicle occupant to execute a desired transaction with a principal party. Upon receiving the occupant's selection, the telematics unit responsively selects a digital window sticker with a virtual barcode for completing the desired transaction. The telematics unit also responds to receiving the occupant's selection by determining a real-time location of the host vehicle, and determining when the host vehicle has completed a predefined dynamic vehicle action.

    Abstract: A head-up display system for displaying graphics upon a windscreen of a vehicle to provide a driver with a gamified experience includes a driver monitoring system including one or more cameras that determine a location of a head of the driver of the vehicle and an eye location of the driver, a graphic projection module for generating images upon the windscreen of the vehicle, and one or more controllers in electronic communication with the driver monitoring system and the graphic projection module. The controller executes instructions to instruct the graphic projection module to generate a vertical alignment graphic upon the windscreen of the vehicle. The vertical alignment graphic indicates when the eye location of the driver is positioned at a nominal height of an eyebox of the head-up display.

    Abstract: A multifunctional self-cleaning surface layer and methods of preparing the multifunctional self-cleaning surface layer are provided. The multifunctional self-cleaning surface layer includes an inorganic matrix including silicon and oxygen; a plurality of photocatalytic active particles distributed within and bonded to the inorganic matrix; and a plurality of nanopores defined within the inorganic matrix in regions corresponding to bonds between the plurality of photocatalytic active particles and the inorganic matrix. Water molecules may be disposed within at least a portion of the plurality of nanopores. In the presence of water and electromagnetic radiation, the plurality of photocatalytic active particles may facilitate a decomposition reaction of any oil or organic residue on the multifunctional self-cleaning surface layer.

    Abstract: A rotating sputtering target(s) is segmented so as to include a plurality of different sputtering material portions or segments radially dispersed around the outer periphery of the target. This enables a plurality of different layers to be sputter-deposited, one after the other, using the same sputtering target as the target rotates. The thicknesses of the different layers can be controlled by the radially extensive size of the different segments, the rotation speed of the target, the material sputter rate, the sputtering power used, and/or the line speed of the sputter coater in which the target(s) is located.
