    Abstract: A snoring prevention apparatus for depressing a person's tongue during sleep is provided which includes a base plate, a tongue depressing member, an opening through which air may flow and a flexible band or strap to secure the apparatus to the person's mouth. The tongue depressing member is preferably a substantially flat member that extends from the base plate for disposition against the upper surface of the tongue such that the person's tongue is depressed which opens the airway of the person and prevents snoring. The flexible band is connected to the base plate and is disposed against the person's head for maintaining the apparatus in place. The tongue depressing member is resilient and flexible between a first tongue depressing position and a second upper position such that the tongue depressing member flexes from the first position to the second position in response to a normal body function which requires the tongue to raise during sleep, such as swallowing, coughing or sneezing.

    Abstract: A cutting mechanism for accurately cutting a notch in a piece of edging, to permit sharp bending of the piece of edging for a picture or plaque, is disclosed. The cutting mechanism comprises a jig secured to a base member, the jig being dimensioned to receive the piece of edging clamped thereto. A cutting blade is mounted on the base member for reciprocating movement between a first retracted position whereat the cutting blade is remote from the jig and a second fully extended position whereat the cutting edge has passed through the jig. The cutting blade has an inverted "V"-shaped cutting edge comprising two blade portions joined one to the other at a central vertex.

    Abstract: A process for partially purifying an osteogenic factor from demineralized bone particles in which nonfibrous proteins are extracted from the demineralized bone with a dissociative extractant for nonfibrous proteins, such as urea or guanidine hydrochloride, the extracted nonfibrous proteins are fractionated by anion exchange chromatography using DEAE cellulose at pH 7, the fraction not adsorbed by the DEAE cellulose is further fractionated by cation exchange chromatography using CM cellulose at pH 4.8, the fraction adsorbed by the CM cellulose is eluted therefrom and the partially purified osteogenic factor is recovered from the eluate as a .ltoreq.30,000 dalton protein isolate.
