  • Patent number: 8577617
Abstract: A method of generating models with which to characterize selected aspects of the metabolic phenotype of subjects without dosing a test substance to those subjects or with which to predict, without dosing, the post-dose responses of subjects where those responses are dependent on metabolic phenotype, the method comprising: obtaining pre-dose data relating to a plurality of subjects before dosing with a dosing substance; obtaining post-dose data relating to the plurality of subjects after dosing with the dosing substance; and correlating inter-subject variation in the pre-dose data with inter-subject variation in the post-dose data, and generating a pre-to-post-dose predictive model on the basis of the observed correlation. The models may be used to determine selected aspects of the metabolic phenotype of a subject or to predict, without dosing, the post-dose responses of subjects.

  • Publication number: 20130282813
Abstract: A social graph may be modeled as a collection of claims. Each claim is associated with an author, an audience, and an assertion about a fact. Probabilistic information may be collected from various sources for a claim, enabling a social networking system to evaluate a truthfulness of the assertion made in the claim. User-declared profile information may be evaluated as claims. A user, entity, or application may make claims about any assertions made in the social networking system. Reputation scores may be determined for users based on evaluations of their historical assertions. Claims may be evaluated for truthfulness using a probabilistic prediction model using heuristics analysis, regression analysis, and machine learning methods. A claims-based profile of users may be provided to viewers based on the contexts in which the claims were made. Viewers may view claims made about users, such as the users' biographical information, contact information, expertise, and interests.

  • Patent number: 8552999
Abstract: A method includes displaying a user interface of an application on a device's touch-sensitive display. The user interface includes a plurality of regions, including a respective region at a respective hierarchy level. The respective region has two or more child regions at a hierarchy level below the respective hierarchy level. The method includes detecting a first contact at a location that corresponds to the respective region and that does not correspond to any of the two or more child regions. When the application is configured to process the first contact, not in conjunction with the respective region, but in conjunction with at least one child region of the two or more child regions, the method includes identifying a respective child region in accordance with positions of the child regions relative to the location, and processing the first contact in conjunction with the identified respective child region using the application.

  • Patent number: 8527713
Abstract: A Block Normal Cache Allocation (BNCA) mode is defined for a processor. In BNCA mode, cache entries may only be allocated by predetermined instructions. Normal memory access instructions (for example, as part of interrupt code) may execute and will retrieve data from main memory in the event of a cache miss; however, these instructions are not allowed to allocate entries in the cache. Only the predetermined instructions (for example, those used to establish locked cache entries) may allocate entries in the cache. When the locked entries are established, the processor exits BNCA mode, and any memory access instruction may allocate cache entries. BNCA mode may be indicated by setting a bit in a configuration register.

  • Publication number: 20130206433
Abstract: A material box can telescope between larger and smaller widths to accommodate legal requirements of traveling down the road, making traveling between job sites easier and safer than conventional, unadjustable material boxes. The material box can be used in a wide configuration to plow a wider area, such as empty parking lots, cutting down work time. When cars are present, the material box can be made narrow to accommodate for the vehicles while still being an effective material moving device.

  • Publication number: 20130151799
Abstract: Efficient techniques are described for controlling ordered accesses in a weakly ordered storage system. A stream of memory requests is split into two or more streams of memory requests and a memory access counter is incremented for each memory request. A memory request requiring ordered memory accesses is identified in one of the two or more streams of memory requests. The memory request requiring ordered memory accesses is stalled upon determining a previous memory request from a different stream of memory requests is pending. The memory access counter is decremented for each memory request guaranteed to complete. A count value in the memory access counter that is different from an initialized state of the memory access counter indicates there are pending memory requests. The memory request requiring ordered memory accesses is processed upon determining there are no further pending memory requests.

  • Publication number: 20130145137
Abstract: A processor reset control circuit is configured to automatically capture a pre-reset value of processor information stored in one or more hardware registers, as part of a reset operation state machine and prior to changing the processor information to its architecturally required post reset value. Such pre-reset processor information includes, for example one or more pre-reset values of the processor program counter (PC) and one or more pre-reset values of an operating-state mode register, both of which may be captured in one or more pre-reset capture storage devices which are then made available for evaluation purposes. Such pre-reset capture storage devices store pre-reset information in response to the reset and maintain the stored pre-reset information until another reset occurs.
