  • Patent number: 11072406
Abstract: The present invention involves a system for the release of low relief, self-orienting deployable payloads from a platform such as a submersible vehicle and a mechanism of passive buoyancy compensation of the vehicle. The system secures one or more payloads by a vacuum force without an additional mechanical restraining mechanism and deployment of a payload is accomplished by disengaging the vacuum hold to release the payload for its intended function. Once deployed, the payload may reorient itself to a functional orientation without additional assistance.

  • Patent number: 10691993
Abstract: A submersible tag device configured to operate within a liquid medium, including a liquid-tight housing defining a chamber that remains isolated from the liquid medium when the housing is immersed in the liquid medium, and an attachment mechanism configured to attach to a target selected by a user. A communication module is disposed in the chamber, the module including a receiver, a controller configured to receive input from the receiver, a power source operatively connected to at least the controller, and data storage. When the tag device is immersed in the liquid medium, the receiver is configured to receive a command signal through the liquid medium.

  • Patent number: 10440092
Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a computing device from a social media platform, a first post associated with a first social media account. The method also includes determining, by the computing device, an event category of an event described in the first post. The method further includes determining, by the computing device, an estimated location associated with the event. The method also includes determining, by the computing device, a distance threshold based on the event category. The method further includes determining, by the computing device, whether a location of concern is within the distance threshold of the estimated location. The method also includes generating, by the computing device, an alert based on a determination that the location of concern is within the distance threshold of the estimated location.

  • Patent number: 9873499
Abstract: An asymmetric propulsion mechanism capable of providing both axial thrust as well as lateral maneuverability from a single axis of rotation is described. The mechanism may be used on aquatic vehicles to minimize cost and maximize reliability and endurance. The mechanism comprises one or more propeller blades disposed asymmetrically around a rotating hub under the guidance of a control system including a motor capable of driving the propeller at various radial speeds throughout the course of a single revolution.

  • Patent number: 7096712
Abstract: The wear resistance of impellers used in multi-stage turbine pumps is tested by using a multi-stage turbine pump having impellers with different physical properties to pump a fluid containing small amounts of an abrasive material. After the fluid has been pumped for a time period sufficient to provide measurable wear to the impellers, the impellers are inspected to determine their relative resistance to wear.

  • Publication number: 20050262518
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of predefining a series of messages between a client application and a server application which needed to be transferred and honored in sequence to perform a compound service request. The sequence of messages is predefined through the use of an Action Control List, whereby the event handler defines the messages to the administrative object.

  • Patent number: 6838006
Abstract: An oil field separation facility utilizing a total organic carbon analyzer to help maintain consistently acceptable levels of oil and water separation. The facility separates a produced oil and water mixture into an oil-rich stream and a water-rich stream. The total organic carbon analyzer measures the total organic carbon content of the water-rich stream. The measured total organic carbon content of the water-rich stream can then be used to adjust an operating parameter of the separation facility.

  • Publication number: 20040255487
Abstract: A support structure for a shoe includes a bladder arrangement having at least one (and preferably two) fluid-filled chamber arranged in a heel region of the sole of the shoe. The fluid-filled chamber has outer walls with a pressurized fluid disposed therein. The fluid-filled chamber is configured to be compressively deformed when an external pressure is applied thereto, such as the pressure exerted by a wearer's foot. The support structure also includes at least one pillar disposed in the fluid-filled chamber. The pillars are configured to decrease the amount by which the fluid-filled chamber is compressively deformed when the external pressure is applied thereto, while still permitting the fluid-filled chambers to be deformed sufficiently to provide adequate protection against the force of impact during use.

  • Patent number: 6589614
Abstract: A cushioning device that imparts both stability and cushioning to the midsole of an athletic shoe. The cushioning device includes a bladder that has a plurality of separate fluid chambers positioned around a perimeter. The chambers define an open central portion of the bladder arrangement. Each of the chambers has an inner side, an outer side and a height that increases from a minimum adjacent the inner side to a maximum toward the outer side thereof.
