    Abstract: A device, system and method to control network load at a base station is provided. A computing device determines a network loading level on a given sector of a base station, the base station in communication with wireless cameras categorized according to rank. When the network loading level exceeds a first threshold, the computing device adjusts a respective scene classification threshold of a lowest rank group of the cameras to a value that decreases a likelihood of scenes of the lowest rank group of the cameras being classified at a higher scene interest level. The scenes classified according to the higher level are streamed by the cameras at a quality higher than other scenes classified to a lower scene interest level, thereby controlling the cameras of the lowest rank, that generate respective scenes according to the lower level, to lower their respective network loading on the given sector.

The first device selects a mechanism for determining success or failure of transmission/delivery of the message based on a message confirmation process of the given network. The first device provides, to the second device, an indication of success or failure of transmission/delivery of the message, based on the reply and the mechanism selected.

The electronic processor is configured to estimate link conditions for the subscriber units and determine, based on the link conditions, whether the subscriber units are resilient or non-resilient. The electronic processor is configured to assign resilient subscriber units to conflicting sub-frames and non-resilient subscriber units to non-conflicting sub-frames.

The transmitter transmits payload signals in a TDMA frame including a first timeslot and a second timeslot, with one of the first timeslot and the second timeslot designated as an active timeslot and the other of the first timeslot and the second timeslot designated as an idle timeslot. The base station device includes an electronic processor coupled to the transmitter and configured to control transmission of calls through the transmitter. The electronic processor is configured to transmit payload signals during the active timeslot and de-key the transmitter during the idle timeslot. During a voice call, the electronic processor is configured to re-kay the transmitter during a portion of the idle timeslot to transmit synchronization information.

When the total number of device targets for the new talkgroup call is greater than a predetermined total target threshold number, a call grant for the new talkgroup call is routed to each device target for the talkgroup via a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network. When the total number of device targets for the new talkgroup call is less than the predetermined total target threshold number, the call grant for the new talkgroup call is routed to each device target for the talkgroup via a preferred network for each device target.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for managing a mass registration scenario in a two-way radio system. A site controller in a trunked radio system detects a mass registration condition in which registration requests by subscriber units are likely to collide on an inbound control channel. During the mass registration condition, the site controller initiates a restriction period by instructing subscriber units that are members of particular talkgroups to temporarily cease registration requests. Those talkgroup members are permitted to resume their registration requests when a predetermined delay time has passed since the members were instructed to cease registration, or when a particular silence time has passed without registration activity over the control channel.

    Abstract: A radio controller monitors a radio channel for a first period of time and determines a first indication of signals received without detecting synchronization or with detecting synchronization but failing error correction during that time. Responsive to determining that the first indication is above a predetermined threshold indicative of an interference condition, causing an instruction to be broadcast identifying a subset of subscriber devices allowed transmitting random access requests on the radio channel. The radio controller monitors the radio channel for a second period of time and determines a second indication during that time. If the second indication is an improvement over the first indication, the radio controller determines that the interference condition is caused by the mass random access event.

    Abstract: Methods of communicating location information from a subscriber to a repeater are described. The subscriber switches from a working channel to a data revert channel, transmits a request for a periodic or one-time window to transmit an update, and determines from grant information in the response announcement the allocated window and frame before switching back to the working channel. Before the allocated time, the subscriber switches to the data revert channel, confirms whether it remains scheduled to transmit the update from a repeater announcement, and if so transmits the location update in either the current or reserved window. The announcements from the repeater contain the identity of the next window and frame and the subscriber reserved to use the window in addition to grant information. The subscribers may or may not be time-aligned and the data and data revert channels may or may not be synchronized.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method of automatic establishment of a location-based talk group call with reduced messaging overhead. The initiating device may be a subscriber unit (SU). The SU determines a geographic reference location and generates location data representative of the location. The SU broadcasts a location-based talk group call header including the location data and including a location-based talk group call identifier field set to cause other SUs receiving the call header to receive and output subsequent data associated with the call header responsive to determining that its current geographic location satisfies the location criterion of the call. The location criterion may be fully determined by the initiating SU and specified in the call header, and may take the form of a specified radius that extends from the geographic reference location represented in the call header.
