    Abstract: An new ornithopter is provided with an elongated body, wings extending laterally from the forward end of the elongated body, and a tail extending laterally from the rear end of the elongated body. In one embodiment, an elongated rotatable member is rotatably coupled at one end to the forward end of the body, and a mass is connected to the other end of the elongated rotatable member. The elongated rotatable member and the mass are rotated to drive the ornithopter. In another embodiment, a mass is coupled to the forward end of the elongated body, and the mass is moved laterally from one side of the elongated body to the other side of the elongated body to drive the ornithopter. The mass may be imparted with rotational and/or translational movement.
