  • Publication number: 20180365973
Abstract: Systems and methods for testing a connected system can include a user interface device receiving first user input, the connected system entering a test mode responsive to the first user input, the user interface device receiving second user input while in the test mode, the connected system tripping a zone of a region in which the connected system is installed to test the connected system responsive to the second user input, the connected system identifying an audible transducer of the connected system associated with tripping the zone, and the connected system transmitting a first activation signal to the audible transducer. In some embodiments, the first activation signal can include first instructions for the audible transducer to emit sound at a first level that is different than a second level at which the audible transducer emits the sound when the connected system is out of the test mode.

  • Publication number: 20070176765
Abstract: A method and device for detecting an intruder in a region with increased performance and decreased false alarms. The security device has a microwave sensor and a PIR sensor operatively coupled to a processor. To increase the performance of the security device the device determines distance information of an object in the region with the microwave sensor, processes the distance information to adapt a frequency response of the PIR sensor to provide a frequency adapted PIR signal, and determines if the object is an intruder by using the frequency adapted PIR signal.

  • Publication number: 20070075859
Abstract: A security device that is adapted to be affixed along a window to provide anti-intruder protection while providing the ability to open the window a variable amount for venting an area. The security device comprises a magnetic member, located in a housing, and means for mounting the magnetic member at a desired location along the housing. The means for mounting the magnetic member may comprise a track extending substantially along the length of the housing and means for slidingly engaging the magnetic member along the track, whereby the magnetic member may be engaged at a desired location. The security device further comprises a contact switch adapted to provide a closed signal to a security system when the contact switch is in proximity to the magnetic member and an open signal when the contact switch is not in proximity to the magnetic member.

  • Publication number: 20070063841
Abstract: An error condition, fault, defect, obstruction, or defective arrangement of viewing angle is determined in a target security device, such as a motion sensor. A plurality of times a fault is detected in a first security device arranged to sense activity in a first zone, the target security device being arranged to sense activity in a second zone overlapping with the first zone; and the error condition may be determined in the target security device when fault in the target security device is not detected for the plurality of times. The second zone may overlap substantially all of the first zone. The first security device may be a door security sensor, a gate security sensor, a keypad or a motion detector. When the first security device is a keypad or user interface, the fault may be an arm or disarm command or an arm/disarm command cycle.

  • Publication number: 20070024443
Abstract: A glass breakage detector (100) having an acoustic transducer (102) for sensing first acoustic waves (130) and for providing a first analog signal (110) representative of the received first acoustic waves (130), an analog to digital converter circuit (104) adapted to convert the first analog signal (110) to a digital signal (112), processing circuitry (106) adapted to process the digital signal (112) to determine if the received first acoustic waves (130) are a result of glass breakage and generate an alarm signal (116) when it is determined that the received first acoustic waves (130) are a result of glass breakage, and a memory circuit (108), wherein the processing circuitry (106) is adapted to cause the memory circuit (108) to store the digital signal (112) for subsequent retrieval and analysis.

  • Publication number: 20060197666
Abstract: A glass break detector is provided with microphones for detecting glass breaking, and microphones for detecting noise, and generating a noise output once a noise is detected. The noise output triggers a video camera to record in the area of the glass break detector. Also, a security apparatus is provided, having a video dome, a video camera provided in the video dome, and one or more microphones provided on an outside surface of the video dome. If a noise is detected by the one or more microphones, the video camera points to a direction of the noise by determining the time of arrival of the noise, and the camera begins to record.

  • Publication number: 20060181402
Abstract: A security system which includes at least a first sensor, an alarm panel including a control system and programmable apparatus, a connection between the at least one sensor and set alarm panel, a keypad assembly including a camera, and a connection between the keypad assembly and the alarm panel. In various embodiments of the invention the camera includes a CMOS image sensor, the camera produces digital images, the camera tracks the user of the keypad assembly, the camera is remotely controllable from the alarm panel to focus on an object of interest, and/or the camera is remotely controllable from a central monitoring station to focus on an object of interest. In some cases the camera system is configured to take a picture in response to a specific user code entered by the user, take a picture in response to time of day when the input occurs, take a picture in response to invalid code entry and/or take a picture in response to an invalid card being presented.

  • Publication number: 20060125621
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for a security device for residential and/or commercial buildings. A motion detector is installed on a fixture such as a wall or ceiling. A wireless remote is used after installation of the motion detector to set the motion detector to a walk test mode, eliminating the need for the installer to open up the motion detector to switch it to a walk test mode. After walk testing the motion detector, the wireless remote is used to set the motion detector back to a normal mode, eliminating the need for the installer to open up the motion detector and avoiding the problem of the installer forgetting to switch it back to a normal mode. The motion detector can also switch back to a normal mode after a predetermined amount of time by use of a timer.

  • Publication number: 20060103526
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for a security device for residential and/or commercial use. A first magnetic member has a first magnet with a north and south pole, and a second magnetic member has a second magnet with a south and north pole. Contact between the north pole of the first magnet and south pole of the second magnet, or vice versa, completes an electrical circuit by conducting electricity between the first and second magnets, and a magnetic force between the first and second magnets holds the first and second magnets in contact. The electrical circuit is broken when a force sufficient to overcome the magnetic force is applied to separate the first and second magnets. When contact between the first magnet and second magnet is broken off, such as by opening a door or window, the electrical circuit is broken, and an alarm is triggered.
