  • Patent number: 8028926
Abstract: A thermostat valve arrangement for the cooling circuit of an internal combustion engine includes a main valve member movably mounted in a housing adapted to be pressed against a main valve seat by a spring. The valve arrangement further includes a bypass valve member cooperating with a bypass valve seat in the housing. An expansion element has a first section cooperating with an abutment fixed to the housing and a second section cooperating with the main valve member and the bypass valve member such that the main valve or bypass valve is selectively closed and/or opened, in order to produce the cooling circuit of the internal combustion engine by means of a radiator or a bypass.

  • Patent number: 7963455
Abstract: A thermostatted valve used in an internal combustion engine and comprising a housing fitted with at least three ports, namely an engine port to communicate with the engine cooling system, a radiator port to communicate with the radiator, and a bypass port to communicate with a bypass, further comprising a hollow, spherical valve element supported pivotably about a pivot axis within the housing between two end positions, said valve element being fitted with at least two apertures of which one permanently communicates with the engine port and the other is situated in a plane substantially perpendicular to said pivot axis, further comprising a temperature sensor controlled valve element drive, characterized in that the axes of all ports are configured in planes that are approximately perpendicular to the pivot axis of the valve element, in that the valve element is approximately a spherical segment or a laminar sphere of which the open side communicates permanently with the engine port, further that the valve el

  • Publication number: 20080135633
Abstract: Thermostat valve arrangement for the cooling circuit of an internal combustion engine in which a main valve member of a main valve is movably mounted in a housing which may be pressed against a main valve seat by a spring, in which a bypass valve member of a bypass valve is further provided which co-operates with a bypass valve seat in the housing and in which a first section of an expansion element (DWE) co-operates with an abutment fixed to the housing and a second section co-operates with the main valve member and the bypass valve member such that the main valve or bypass valve is selectively closed and/or opened, in order to produce the cooling circuit of the internal combustion engine by means of a radiator or a bypass, the main valve seat being formed by a conical seat surface in the housing, the main valve member forming a valve unit with an axially spaced piston-shaped bypass valve member, which valve unit receives the expansion element in an axial recess in one direction in an axially secure manner,
