  • Patent number: 11752656
Abstract: A cutting link, a saw chain and a chainsaw apparatus having the same, and a method for manufacturing the same. The cutting link includes: a body; a depth gauge protruding upwardly from a top side of the body; and a cutting portion protruding upwardly from the top side of the body and located at rearward side of the depth gauge, wherein the cutting portion includes a cutting edge, a rake face adjacent to the cutting edge, and a clearance face adjacent to the cutting edge, and wherein the cutting portion has one or more hardened areas including a first surface hardened area which covers at least the rake face, with other areas of the cutting link being non-surface hardened areas. The chain is a single use chain with predictable long life and economical use, and capable of minimizing the risk of chain shot.

  • Patent number: 10189175
Abstract: This invention relates to a nose assembly for a chainsaw guide bar for wood harvesting and a chainsaw guide bar having the same. The nose assembly (400) comprising: a pair of nose side plates (410, 420; 470); and a sprocket and bearing assembly adapted to be clamped between the pair of nose side plates (410, 420; 470) and comprising an idler sprocket (450); wherein at least one of the pair of the nose side plates (410, 420; 470) is provided at an inside surface thereof facing to the sprocket and bearing assembly with one or more lubricant conveying channels for lubricating the sprocket and bearing assembly. The chainsaw guide bars according to the present invention enable flow of lubricant to moving parts in order to reduce friction of these moving parts as a saw chain rotates though the guide bar.

  • Publication number: 20060283684
Abstract: A clutch drum assembly comprising a clutch drum (21) and a drive means. The clutch drum (21) has an axis of rotation and includes an end wall (22). The drive means specifically a drive spline (1) or a fixed drive sprocket axially to one end of drive means, is a flange (5) with one or more radial evenly spaced minimally sized apertures (6) that have been counter sunk or counter bored to one side. Unitary axial motion of the two components is achieved via a mechanical connection between the two said components by tightly pressing metal from the outer surface of the end wall (22) clutch through each of the minimally sized apertures (6) in the drive means flange (5) against a die positioned proximate to each said aperture (6) forging the metal into the counter sunk or counter bored portion of the drive means flange (5).

  • Patent number: 5537751
Abstract: A chain saw guide bar having two opposed nose plates at the free end thereof. Each nose plate has an outwardly formed impression which faces the outwardly formed impression in the opposed nose plate, to allow a thicker idler roller assembly to be mounted between the outwardly formed impressions. The idler roller assembly includes an inner bearing journal, roller bearings, and an idler roller with a concave groove around its outer circumference, within which groove the drive links of the saw chain track. Two thin shims are placed on opposite sides of the idler roller assembly between the nose plates. A replacement nose assembly is also disclosed which includes two substantially identical outer plates positioned apart a given distance.
