  • Publication number: 20260176517
Abstract: A heat pump hot water heater (HPWH) integrated with a phase change material (PCM) thermal energy storage (TES) system for improving energy efficiency and/or allowing for a smaller space profile for the hot water heater. The PCM may allow for hot water to be provided without use of electrical energy and/or for a greater volume of hot water to be provided than the volume of the HPWH tank itself. The PCM may be submerged in the water or located in the corners around the cylindrical heat pump water heater.

  • Publication number: 20250052526
Abstract: A thermal energy storage heat exchanger comprising can include a core defining a plurality of airflow passages to receive an airstream therethrough, the core can include microencapsulated phase change material suspended in a photocurable resin. The phase change material can be configured to change phases to store energy from and deliver stored energy to the airstream when the airflow passes through the core.

  • Publication number: 20220186947
Abstract: A thermal energy storage heat exchanger can include a core defining a plurality of airflow passages to receive an airstream therethrough. The core can be made of a composite of a phase change material shape-stabilized by a polymer. The phase change material can be structurally supported by the polymer and the phase change material can be configured to change phases to store energy from and deliver stored energy to the airstream when the airflow passes through the core.
