  • Patent number: 5787590
Abstract: An open top shoe having a slotted end cap, an opened end, a bottom wall and opposing side walls contoured to removably support a commercially available industrial electric foliage clipper, is integrally supported to an elongated pole that may be telescopic and includes a slotted end cap at one end to encapsulate the aft end of the clipper and a portion of the handle. A strap attached by a cord to the shoe is adapted to secure the trigger to the clipper's handle and place the clipper in the active condition. An electrical extension cord with a male plug is attached internally at the bottom of the pole and a detachable end cap fits into the end of the pole to close the end and the male plug. A female plug adapted to fit into the male plug of the clipper is secured to the end of the electrical extension cord that snakes through a hole formed on the upper end of the pole. Straps supported to the side walls of the shoe secure the clipper in place and prevent the clipper from dislodging from the bottom wall.

  • Patent number: 5583507
Abstract: A method and apparatus for passive identification includes a series of elements preferably in the form of strips, bars or other geometric shapes, or as dipole antennas made of a material having variable EM retro-reflectivity characteristics. By varying the characteristics of individual elements (i.e. spatial, polarization, frequency response and angular extent of retro-reflection), the elements form an alterable pattern which can be used for identification. The characteristics can be changed remotely, the ability of the device to understand and implement the change being a criterion for identification.

  • Patent number: 4446680
Abstract: A self-contained battery-energized, cordless lawn edger. This device includes a frame supported on at least three wheels which frame securely carries, for example, one or more rechargeable wet-cell batteries as well as a pivotally mounted sub-assembly having a heavy-duty series wound drive motor, a rigid edger blade mounted on the drive motor output shaft and a blade guard. Recharging may be accomplished by interconnection to a conventional automotive charging system, a battery charger, or to a 115 V.A.C. power source. The blade is positioned to rotate in a plane generally perpendicular to the ground. A blade positioning lever is pivotably attached to the main guide handle for vertical positioning of the blade. A drive motor on-off switch attached to the handles is also provided. A removable cover may also be provided for protecting the battery energizers. One or more of the wheels may also include drive means.
