  • Patent number: 8179305
Abstract: An enhanced impulse response measurement for a pulsed frequency modulation (FM) radar signal provides a more accurate measurement of the amplitude of a secondary response relative to the amplitude of a main response. The pulsed FM radar signal is sampled to produce a time-domain sample record. The sample record is windowed to produce a windowed sample record. The windowed sample record is transformed into a frequency-domain spectrum. The spectrum is multiplied with the complex conjugate of a frequency-domain estimate of a transmitted pulsed FM radar signal to produce a de-spreaded pulse. The de-spreaded pulse is transformed into the time domain to produce a measurement of the impulse response having a main response and a secondary response. The amplitude of the secondary response is corrected to eliminate errors caused by the windowing.

  • Patent number: 8180586
Abstract: A frequency mask trigger having frequency selective amplitude discrimination capability is provided for triggering when selected frequency components of an input signal fail to reach a desired power level. A frame of digital data representing an input signal is transformed into a frequency spectrum having at least one frequency bin, each frequency bin having a power amplitude value. Each power amplitude value is compared to an upper lower reference power levels and a lower reference power level. A trigger signal is generated when the power amplitude value in any frequency bin is above the lower reference power level and below the upper reference power level for a specified time duration.

  • Patent number: 7836095
Abstract: A system (10), apparatus (12) and method (40) for providing content channels to end users based on end user wish lists. The method includes a domain channel manager apparatus accessing a plurality of end user wish lists maintained at end user devices, such as end user residential gateways and home servers. The domain channel manager accesses the plurality of wish lists and aggregates the wish list items, organizing and ranking the wish list items if necessary. Based on the aggregated wish list items from the plurality of end users, the domain channel manager retrieves content from all available content sources, such as content providers and existing content repositories. The domain channel manager creates content channels based on the retrieved content and offers those content channels to end users whose preferences match the content of the particular channel offered.

  • Patent number: 7649930
Abstract: A filter equalization technique for an analog signal path, such as in an instrument that simultaneously measures a signal over a band of frequencies, uses magnitude measurement data for high frequency bands for which phase-calibrated sources are not readily available. A sinusoidal signal source together with an accurate power meter is used to provide a stepped frequency input over a desired frequency band to the analog signal path with an accurate measured magnitude. The output of the analog signal path is digitized and the resulting frequency magnitudes are computed. Then the resulting power meter results are deducted from the frequency magnitudes measured each time by the instrument to determine the magnitude response of the analog signal path. Using a Hilbert transform the corresponding phase response is determined based on a minimum phase assumption over the desired frequency band. From the magnitude and phase responses an inverse or digital equalization filter may be designed for the analog signal path.

  • Publication number: 20090111474
Abstract: A method, information processing system, and wireless communication system that selects a set of network paths for transmitting data to a serving network. The method first determines (404) that there is data to transmit to the serving network (102). For each of a plurality of base stations (106, 107, 108), an assessment of at least one traffic engineering parameter associated with each of the base stations (106, 107, 108) is performed (406). A set of base stations in which the traffic engineering parameters satisfy predetermined communication criteria associated with the wireless device (104) is selected (408) in response to performing the assessment. The selected set of base stations is used to transmit wireless device data to the serving network.

  • Publication number: 20080056143
Abstract: When a wireless two-way communications device that has a plurality of user interfaces (and where at least two of these interfaces comprise different interface modalities) receives (101, 201) non-user input regarding an operational constraint (such as, but not limited to, an environmentally-sourced or an internally-sourced operational constraint), an automatic determination (102, 202) will follow regarding a plurality of differing user interface operational configurations as will comply with the operational constraint. One or more of these operational configurations are then presented (103, 203) to a user of the device in order to prompt provision of a user instruction regarding use of such operational configurations. Upon receiving (104, 204) a corresponding instruction from the user, the corresponding operational configuration is used (105, 205) to thereby accommodate the operational constraint in a manner that is relatively satisfactory to the user.
