    Abstract: Honeycomb forms can be held in an expanded or compressed state by the use of a lengthwise device such as a cord or similar lengthwise material threaded through holes in the honeycomb plies. This cord has a frictional surface to hold the honeycomb from unintended movement. Additionally, a semi rigid lengthwise device, such as a twisted, stranded wire may be used with the separated strands preventing the return of the end plies.
