  • Patent number: 9077417
Abstract: Multiple antennas employed at transmitting and receiving nodes can significantly increase a MIMO system capacity, especially when channel knowledge of link(s) between the transmitting and receiving nodes is available at the transmitting node. Channel knowledge may be acquired through feedback provided by the receiving node based on a plurality of common pilots transmitted by the transmitting node. The common pilots may include legacy and non-legacy pilots. If the feedback indicates that data demodulation at the receiving node can be enhanced, the transmitting node may also transmit demodulation pilot signal(s), which may coincide with the transmission of data. The receiving node can use the demodulation pilot signal(s), alone or with the common pilot signal(s), to demodulate data received from the transmitting node. The transmitting node may notify the receiving node to monitor for the demodulation pilot signal(s) through higher layer signaling and/or scheduling orders over a control channel.

  • Publication number: 20120106671
Abstract: Two power control loops for antenna switching transmit diversity are realized by a user terminal including two antennas (110, 120), one power amplifier (140) for amplifying the signals to be transmitted from each of the antennas, and a switch (130) switching the transmission power of the power amplifier from one antenna to the other antenna. Accordingly, the user terminal is enabled to alternately transmit data packets, with its two antennas. A closed loop power control mechanism in the user terminal is adapted to update, on receipt of a transmission power control command from a base station, the transmission power relative to the level of two slots previously.

  • Patent number: 7972289
Abstract: An apparatus for drawing blood from a finger includes a flexible band, at least a portion of which is adapted to surround a portion of a finger. A remaining portion of the apparatus is disposed under at least one joint of the finger. The apparatus provides sufficient strength along its longitudinal length to restrict a child or other person from excessively bending the joint when the finger restraint is in position. After a puncture is provided near the tip of the finger, the apparatus is then squeezed to help force an additional quantity of blood to flow out through the puncture. After the blood sample is taken, the apparatus continues to “restrain” the finger until a required bandage is applied. A few of the many possible modifications are also shown.
