  • Patent number: 11016111
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for stride monitoring are disclosed. In one example, a first sensor monitors a first user motion parameter during a user running activity and provides a first sensor output and a second sensor monitors a second user motion parameter during the user running activity and provides a second sensor output. • Publication number: 20060072472
Abstract: A method and apparatus for configuring connectivity at a hub having a plurality of subscriber lines from a plurality of subscriber premises and a plurality of feeder lines from a central office. The hub provides connectivity between the plurality of subscriber premises and the central office. The method and apparatus include categorizing the plurality of subscriber lines into a plurality of groups based on penetration rates and churn rates of the plurality subscriber lines. Each group of subscriber lines are connected to feeder lines based on the penetration and churn rates for POTS and/or DSL services. Subscriber line groups with high penetration rates and high/low churn rates are coupled directly to feeder lines. Subscriber line groups with low penetration rates and high/low churn rates are terminated at the hub. Subscriber lines with an intermediate penetration rate are candidates for being connected to the feeder lines via an automatic switch.

  • Publication number: 20050259637
Abstract: Reduction of administrative overhead in maintaining network information, rapid convergence on an optimal routing path through the data network, and utilization of only required network resources are realized by a novel method for establishing a call path between network users. The method is based upon deployment of a network information server that stores network topology information and that is addressable by each end user. In this method, the network information server receives a request to establish a call path. The request identifies at least the calling party. In response to the request, the network information server determines a network traversal between the calling party and a root network wherein the network traversal includes call path information about the sub-networks between the calling party and the root network. The request for establishing a call path can also identify the called party.

  • Publication number: 20050068942
Abstract: Establishing voice calls in an IP based VPN includes determining the relative location of a terminating point with respect to an originating point of a new communication containing the voice data, determining one or more IP addresses to egress the communication from the originating point to the terminating point, creating a VPN identifier in the new communication, passing the new communication to the terminating point and removing the VPN identifier from the new communication. The VPN identifier can be an extra field added to an encapsulation coding scheme of the voice data.

  • Patent number: 6828809
Abstract: Various methods of hot-electron imaging a workpiece are provided. In one aspect, a method of examining a workpiece is provided that includes directing a first photon at a photodetector at a first known time and stimulating a circuit device of the workpiece at a second known time to produce a condition in the circuit device conducive to photon emission. At least one photon emitted by the circuit device in response to the stimulation is detected. The first photon increases the quantum efficiency of the photodetector in detecting the at least one photon. The detection of the at least one photon relative to the first known time and the second known time is time correlated to temporally distinguish the first photon and the at least one photon and to temporally correlate the stimulation of the circuit device to the detection of the at least one photon.

  • Patent number: 6780664
Abstract: Various microscopy probes and methods of fabricating the same are provided. In one aspect, a method of fabricating a microscopy probe is provided that includes providing a member and forming a first film on the member. The first film fosters growth of carbon nanotubes when exposed to a carbon-containing compound. A second film is formed on the first film. The second film has an opening therein that exposes a portion of the first film. A carbon nanotube is formed on the exposed portion of the first film.

  • Patent number: 6377590
Abstract: An apparatus (30) and method minimize voice delay by combining comfort noise with subframe insertions to fill gaps in speech and maintain a minimum delay for packets arriving late. When a packet is late, short durations of sound are repetitively inserted until the late packet arrives. When the late packet finally arrives, the durations of future speech pauses are modified so there is no voice degradation.
