  • Publication number: 20160089110
Abstract: An ultrasound imaging standoff has a stiffer portion for contact with a volume transducer and a flexible portion filled with viscous fluid for conforming to the patient, resulting in fewer or no air gaps. Pressure is applied through the standoff to cause the connective tissue to flatten, resulting in less shadowing artifact.

  • Patent number: 9028014
Abstract: A system for electrical braking of a vehicle comprises a power bus coupled to a first driver associated with a first electromechanical actuator (EMA). The power bus is also coupled to a second driver associated with a second EMA, and the first EMA and the second EMA are associated with a wheel of the vehicle. The power bus provides braking power to the first EMA via the first driver and to the second EMA via the second driver. A normal braking command interface provides a first braking signal to the first driver and a second braking signal to the second driver. An emergency/park brake interface bypasses the normal braking command interface and sends a first emergency/park braking signal to the first driver and a second emergency/park braking signal to the second driver. A sensor measures a current at a single location of the power bus that is proportional to a braking force exerted on the wheel.

  • Publication number: 20070260764
Abstract: Systems and methods for assigning addresses to one or more components, such as luminaires, in a network. In one example the luminaires include one or more lamp sub-modules. An example method sends an address command from a master control unit to all luminaires over a communication broadcast databus, and switches the one or more luminaires to an addressing mode of operation based on the sent address command. A token signal is sent on a second serial databus to the one or more luminaires and address information is sent on the communication databus. The address information is recorded at the one or more luminaires based on the received token signal. Addresses are automatically assigned to the associated lamp sub-modules based on physical location and the recorded address information and assigned lamp sub-module addresses are sent to the master control unit. The sent address information and lamp sub-module addresses are saved.

  • Publication number: 20060136030
Abstract: A bio-implant having a length and a proximal and a distal end. The bio-implant includes at least two laminae of dielectric material that are joined together, thereby defining a boundary and that also define a side surface that is intersected by the boundary. The laminae also define a nominal top surface that meets the side surface. At least one set of conductors is interposed between the laminae and extends lengthwise from the proximal end toward the distal end, each one of the set of conductors being terminated at the side surface to form a set of conductor terminations. Additionally, a set of electrode contacts, each is constructed on the side surface and extends over a portion of the nominal top surface, each the electrode contact contacting one of the conductor terminations.

  • Publication number: 20060007981
Abstract: This disclosure describes the design and construction of high-precision off-axis optical imaging systems. The disclosure also describes the design and construction of high-precision mounting structures for rigidly holding optical elements in an optical imaging system. The disclosure further describes both a mechanism for highly stable mounting and a technique for high precision focusing of a detector in a complex optical setup. The disclosure even further describes both tooling and a technique used for focusing high precision optical imaging systems. The theory and use of at least these concepts are introduced by examining how these concepts aid the construction and use of a non-contact laser scanning system.

  • Patent number: 6102321
Abstract: A line in contact with an elongated mandrel has incremental lengths wrapped around the mandrel when the mandrel is rotated about a longitudinal axis. The mandrel has at least one transverse handle receiving opening therethrough. The handle when inserted into the handle receiving opening is employed to rotate the mandrel. The device includes at least one member for engaging the line to prevent unwinding rotation of the mandrel. The mandrel carries spaced transverse flange plates to prevent the line from sliding off the mandrel. At least one of the flange plates has oppositely extending slots from the periphery of that one flange plate to an area near the mandrel for admitting the line from which slack is to be removed to be led into and out of the space between the flange plates to contact the mandrel.
