Publication number: 20160138746Abstract: A coupling including female and male couplers configured to be coupled by first and second stage connections. In the first stage connection, a plurality of detents in the female coupler are urged into a detent recess in the male coupler to coupled the female and male couplers. To make the second stage connection after the first stage connection has been made, threads on the male coupler are mated with threads on a release sleeve, which causes valves disposed in the female and male couplers to move to an open position to allow fluid flow through the coupling. In this way, reduced force is employed to engage the female and male couplers while avoiding contact between the detents and the threads on the male coupler, thereby preventing the detents and threads on the male coupler from damaging one another.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2013Publication date: May 19, 2016Applicant: Parker-Hannifin CorporationInventor: Thomas Clifford TRENT

Patent number: 8977849Abstract: A computer-implemented method for creating a rights management system (RMS) with superior layers and subordinate layers is described. A separate trust network for one or more layers of the RMS is established. The trust network includes one or more computing nodes within the one or more layers. A data object is created on a computing node that is a member of trust network in a superior layer. The data object is encrypted to a ciphertext data object. A publishing license is created for each of the one or more layers of the RMS. Access rights and attributes associated with the ciphertext data object are controlled within each layer based on the publishing license of each of the one or more layers of the RMS.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2009Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Assignee: Symantec CorporationInventor: Thomas Clifford

Patent number: 8615498Abstract: A computer-implemented method for migrating an object from a deduplication store to an external domain in an external media is described. A deduplication store (dstore) deduplication map (dmap) is retrieved from a dstore for an object stored in the dstore. A determination is made as to whether an external dmap exists in the external domain for an object referenced in the dstore dmap. If the external dmap exists, a determination is made as to whether data referenced in the dstore dmap exist in the external dmap. If the referenced data do not exist, the referenced data is extracted from the dstore to the external domain. If the external dmap does not exist, the object and the associated dmap are extracted from the dstore to the external domain.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2009Date of Patent: December 24, 2013Assignee: Symantec CorporationInventors: Graham Bromley, Thomas Clifford, Jon Genda, Jian Jun Lu, James Ohr, Yi Qu, Weibao Wu, Wei-Zhen Zhu

Patent number: 8615492Abstract: Techniques for providing multiplexed data for backup are disclosed. In one particular exemplary embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method for providing multiplexed data for backup comprising determining one or more criteria for a set of data to be backed up by a backup device, wherein the one or more criteria are based at least in part on reducing encryption overhead for the set of data. The method further includes identifying one or more sets of data to form a multiplexed backup based upon the one or more sets of data meeting the one or more criteria, and transmitting the one or more identified sets of data to the backup device for backup.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2008Date of Patent: December 24, 2013Assignee: Symantec CorporationInventors: Thomas Clifford, Gaurav Malhotra

Publication number: 20130318046Abstract: Various systems and methods for seeding a storage device. For example, a method involves accessing a policy that identifies a number of clients. The method then involves selecting a most recent backup image for each of the clients and copying the most recent backup images from a source storage device to a target storage device. Once a most recent backup image has been copied from the source storage device to the target storage device for each of the clients, the method switches a destination value in the policy from the source storage device to the target storage device.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2012Publication date: November 28, 2013Inventors: Thomas Clifford, Shelley A. Publication number: 20120305106Abstract: A compact damper and an actuator mounting bracket are provided for controlling fluid flow through a duct. The actuator mounting bracket includes two mounting legs and a mounting plate extending between the mounting legs. The mounting legs are configured to be fixed to corresponding mounting extensions that extend from and are integral to the damper. The actuator mounting bracket defines various slots and holes to provide adjustability in both the position of the actuator mounting bracket with respect to the damper and the type of actuator that can be accommodated by the mounting bracket. In this way, an actuator may be installed/replaced while maintaining the pressure integrity of the damper. In addition, the integral mounting extensions facilitate proper alignment of the actuator with the damper and provide additional support for larger actuators. Methods for attaching an actuator to a damper are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2011Publication date: December 6, 2012Inventors: Thomas Clifford Morse, Jeremiah Scott Foreman

Publication number: 20120180888Abstract: A high flow service valve is provided that does not rely on the use of a valve core. The high flow service valve allows a condensing unit to be evacuated and charged very quickly. The high flow service valve utilizes a second movable obturator positioned at least partially in the valve body having a first position wherein a charge passageway is fluidly connected to a charge port and a second position wherein the charge passageway is fluidly disconnected from the charge port.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2010Publication date: July 19, 2012Applicant: PARKER HANNIFIN CORPORATIONInventor: Thomas Clifford Trent

Patent number: 6025027Abstract: A method for producing an improved fire retarding compound for use with cellulose insulation materials uses the same concept as boric acid and borax, but substitutes liquid borates rather than powdered borates. Such liquid borates enables the amount of chemical to be reduced by approximately fifty percent. This offsets the high cost of the use of borates. Additionally, the inexpensive borate, borax, is the only boron containing chemical used in the present invention method and it is converted to boric acid once impregnated inside the cellulose insulation material.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1999Date of Patent: February 15, 2000Assignee: Mountain DevelpomentInventor: Thomas Clifford Shutt

Patent number: 5752170Abstract: A multi-channel transmitter has a variable gain preamplifier (8a, 8b, 8c) for each channel, the combined outputs being fed to a linearized multi-channel power amplifier (10). The output of the latter is sampled by coupling means (12) which produce a sampled signal representative of the power in each channel. The sampled signal is applied to a frequency selective feedback loop which, for each channel, provides a control signal (20a, 20b, 20c) applied to the corresponding preamplifier (8a, 8b, 8c) to vary the gain of the latter in order to provide separate power control for each channel.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1996Date of Patent: May 12, 1998Assignee: Nokia Mobile Phones LimitedInventor: Paul Thomas Clifford
