Patent number: 12318042Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for a blender control system to monitor the usage of a blender system. The blender control system may decrement a remaining blend runtime and/or remaining blend cycle count each time that the blender is used. The blender control system may disable or partially disable at least some functions of the blender system once the remaining blend runtime and/or remaining blend cycle count is depleted. Additional blend cycles and/or blend runtime may be purchased directly via an interface on the blender system, through a mobile application, by phone, or via a web portal. The blender control system replenishes the remaining blend runtime and/or remaining cycle count in response to the purchase.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2022Date of Patent: June 3, 2025Assignee: BLENDTEC, INC.Inventors: Thomas D. Dickson, David J. Throckmorton, Cody Hardcastle

Publication number: 20040233781Abstract: A blending station apparatus and method includes a foodstuffs storage location where a plurality of individual foodstuffs storage containers are held, a control panel for inputting information into the blending station so that the beverage size and one or more of the various types of foodstuffs, as well as other ingredients such as ice, water, supplements, etc., can be selected to make a drink, a blending container to hold the various ingredients, a mixing location for blending the ingredients to achieve a uniform drink consistency, and a cleaning location to clean the blending container after the blended contents have been dispensed into a container for consumption.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2004Publication date: November 25, 2004Applicant: K-TEC, Inc.Inventors: Thomas D. Dickson, B. Shawn Elgaaen, Ralph W. Schwarze, David J. Throckmorton

Publication number: 20040168711Abstract: A container rinsing apparatus and method of rinsing a container that includes a nozzle positioned to spray liquid at a particular spray angle toward the interior surface of the container when the top surface of the container depresses a base cover of the rinsing apparatus. The rinsing apparatus is capable of completely rinsing virtually any shape of container without requiring manipulation of the container relative to the rinsing device during rinsing. When the container is positioned to engage the rinsing apparatus, the nozzle is closer to the open end of the container than the closed end.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2003Publication date: September 2, 2004Applicant: K-TEC, Inc.Inventors: Thomas D. Dickson, Mark W. McLane

Publication number: 20030213373Abstract: A blending apparatus includes an articulable housing operatively coupled to one or more switches to actuate a blending motor. Upon mounting a mixing jar and associated lid on top of the housing, downward pressure is placed on the lid/jar assembly which places, in turn, downward pressure on the housing. Such downward pressure on the housing causes the housing to articulate and actuate the switch, which in turn provides power to the motor to rotate the blade mounted within the mixing container at a first rotational speed. In one embodiment, the switch is interposed between the housing and a stationary base. A second switch may also be utilized to rotate the blade at a second, increased rotational speed upon additional articulation of the housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2003Publication date: November 20, 2003Applicant: K-TEC, Inc.Inventor: Thomas D. Dickson

Patent number: 5957577Abstract: An enclosure apparatus for processing devices includes a portion movable between an open position and a closed position. A receptacle in which items to be processed are contained is placed within the enclosure when the movable portion is in the open position. Upon securing the enclosure about the receptacle, the enclosure engages a lid covering the receptacle to maintain the lid in position within the receptacle. Engagement of the lid by the enclosure causes the lid to flex outwardly and seal against the receptacle opening. A switch may be interposed between the enclosure and the processing device to immediately initiate a blending cycle at the moment the enclosure is secured about the processing receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1997Date of Patent: September 28, 1999Assignee: K-Tec, Inc.Inventors: Thomas D. Dickson, Ralph W. Schwarze

Patent number: 5655834Abstract: A blender appliance for blending food includes a base with a motor therein. A blender receptacle is removably mounted on the base so that the motor will rotate a blade mounted in the receptacle. The blade is mounted midway along its length for rotation about on axis of rotation. The blade includes blade end tips extending upwardly parallel with the axis of rotation or alternative substantially perpendicularly to the blade adjacent its ends. The blade tips are beveled outwardly and rearwardly from their leading edges and the blade is also beveled downwardly and rearwardly from its leading edges.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1996Date of Patent: August 12, 1997Assignee: K-Tec, Inc.Inventor: Thomas D. Dickson

Patent number: 5380086Abstract: A multipurpose electric food mixing appliance specially adapted to mix and knead bread dough in combination with a blender device utilizes one power source to drive both the blender and the mixer. The appliance can sense when dough is properly kneaded and automatically shut itself off. A special dough hook/stator arrangement reduces drag on the motor and an upwardly extending cover maximizes the effective volume of the mixing receptacle. A special blender blade configuration increases the effectiveness of the blender.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1992Date of Patent: January 10, 1995Assignee: K-Tec, Inc.Inventor: Thomas D. Dickson
