Abstract: Various embodiments of the disclosure include methods for testing measuring devices n for resources of an energy system assigned to a common measuring device. The method may include: acquiring a measurement signal Pn(t) by way of each of the measuring devices n; acquiring a sum signal PPCC(t) by way of the common measuring device; providing an objective function Z, which defines a difference between the acquired sum signal PPCC(t) and a modeled sum signal {circumflex over (P)}PCC(t), wherein the modeled sum signal {circumflex over (P)}PCC(t) is formed by way of the acquired measurement signals Pn(t) and a respective scaling factor Sn; and computing the values of the scaling factors Sn by extremizing the objective function Z. The test includes determining an error with one of the measuring devices n through a deviation of the computed value of the associated scaling factor Sn from a value defined for the respective measuring device n.

  • Patent number: 9450627
Abstract: A receiver that receives a reference symbol comprising a sequence of a plurality of synchronization repetition patterns, wherein each repetition pattern contains a predetermined number of samples. The reference symbol is part of a digital signal modulated by using OFDM modulation. An end synchronization repetition pattern in the reference symbol is phase-shifted by 180°, and the phase-shifted synchronization repetition pattern is positioned after the sequence of the number of synchronization repetition patterns. The receiver detects a timing of a correlation peak at the end of said reference symbol by performing a cross-correlation of the synchronization repetition patterns.

  • Patent number: 7689242
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for receiving signals in a wireless cellular OFDM system, in which data symbols are transmitted in frequency subcarriers and timeslots. The present invention further relates to a method for channel estimation in such a device. According to the present invention, a channel estimation on the basis of received pilot symbols is performed, whereby the channel estimation for data symbols between pilot symbols is performed by means of a filter, said filter being selected from a set of filters on the basis of an interference reference value.

  • Patent number: 7154975
Abstract: A receiving apparatus (1) for receiving signals in a digital telecommunication system and a synchronizing method for synchronizing the receiving apparatus (1). The receiving apparatus (1) includes a receiver (2, 3) for receiving a reference symbol having at least two repetition patterns. One of the repetition patterns is phase-shifted in relation to the other. The receiving apparatus (1) is synchronized in the digital telecommunication system using the received reference symbol. The synchronization includes a cross correlation of at least one of the two repetition patterns within a cross correlation window having a predetermined length. In this manner, the performance and the accuracy of a cross correlation peak detection can be enhanced for improved synchronization.

  • Patent number: 7145955
Abstract: Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed transmission and reception using a broadcast burst preamble. The preamble comprises at least one first part (A-FIELD) designed for a coarse frame detection and/or an AGC control, and at least one second part (B-FIELD) following the at least one first part in the time domain and being designed for a timing and frequency synchronization. The at least one first part (A-FIELD) and the at least one second part (B-FIELD) each include Inverse Fast Fourier Transformed (IFFT) frequency domain sequences of complex symbols. The frequency domain sequence of the at least one first part (A-FIELD) is set depending on the frequency domain sequence of the at least one second part (B-FIELD) such that a second autocorrelation peak mainly generated by the at least one second part (B-FIELD) of the preamble is optimized. The sequence of complex symbols of the first part differs from the sequence of complex symbols of the second part in at least one symbol.

  • Patent number: 7106821
Abstract: A data modulation method and a data modulation device and a communication device are disclosed. The present invention relates to the synchronization and training preamble. The reference symbol optimized in order to contain the structure of “IA-A-IA-A-A-IA-A-IA-IA” is allocated to sub-carriers of the OFDM symbol. More specifically, by designing the structure of the preamble of the time domain, distinction from the other communication system can be certainly conducted holding the correctness of the clock synchronization. Also, we have adopted the series having low peak average ratio and dynamic range of sync symbol using the OFDM. Since the generation and the detection processings can be conducted in utilizing the generation device and the detection device of the sync preamble used in the convention system, this system has an advantage in increasing the common use of the LSI chip. We have made the sync series divided into 2 parts A and B before to one B region and made this to have simple construction.

  • Patent number: 7012882
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device (10) for receiving signals in a wireless orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) system and to a channel estimation method in such a system. The data symbols and pilot symbols are transmitted in frequency subcarriers and timeslots, whereby pilot symbols are transmitted in a continuous stream within at least one frequency subcarrier. A channel estimation for a data symbol is performed on the basis of received pilot symbols using a filter including a common phase error correction value from the continuous stream pilot symbol in the same timeslot as the data symbol to be channel estimated. The present invention thereby enables a correct and efficient channel estimation including a common phase error correction to be performed.

  • Patent number: 6803814
Abstract: A demodulator for modulated RF signals comprises a passive four port structure (1). The four port structure (1) has a first input (3) for supplying a modulated RF signal to be demodulated. A second input (2) is supplied with a RF signal from a local oscillator (21). Two output terminals are connected to power sensors (4, 5). The RF signal from the local oscillator (21) is supplied to the second input (3) of the four port structure (1) without being RF switched by an RF switch. The demodulator is particularly useful for modulation schemes with a finite number of magnitude states (nQAM modulation).

  • Patent number: RE40568
Abstract: The present invention proposes a method for generating synchronization bursts for OFDM transmission systems. The symbols of a predefined symbol sequence are mapped according to a predefined mapping scheme on subcarriers of the OFDM systems by a mapping unit (2), wherein the symbols of the predefined symbol sequence represent subcarriers of the OFDM system with nonzero amplitudes. A synchronization burst is generated by a inverse fast Fourier transforming unit (3) transforming the subcarriers of the OFDM system mapped to said predefined symbol sequence. The mapping (2) of the symbols of the predefined symbol sequence is set such that the resulting time domain signal of the synchronization burst represents a periodic nature. According to the invention the predefined symbol sequence is set such that the envelope fluctuation of the time domain signal of the synchronization burst is minimized. Therefore advantageous symbol sequences reducing said the envelope fluctuation of the time domain signal are proposed.
