  • Patent number: 7173745
Abstract: An optical beam delivery configuration includes zoom lens means (30) and beam scanning means (44) defining an optical path (20) for a light beam. The beam scanning means is disposed after the zoom lens means in the direction of beam delivery. The zoom lens means (30) is arranged to receive a collimated incident light beam (23) on the optical path, and to be adjustable to determine the fluence of the beam when it is incident on the beam scanning means, while maintaining its collimation on exit from the zoom lens means. The beam scanning means (44) is arranged to laterally scan the beam at a downstream treatment location (50) while maintaining the beam's collimation and orientation at the location.

  • Patent number: 7136403
Abstract: Crystal housing apparatus for adjustably positioning cooperating non-linear optical crystals in a laser beam generating system, includes a housing (50) with entry (60) and exit (62) windows for respective laser beams, respective holder means (72, 74, 76) to retain respective crystals within the housing in optical alignment with the windows, and means (86) mounting the respective holder means for individual fine rotational adjustment of the crystals about respective axes. Individual temperature control elements (120) are mounted in association with the respective holder means for controlling the temperature of the respective crystals and means (110, 114) is provided for effecting the fine rotational adjustment of the crystals.

  • Patent number: 6843788
Abstract: A method of treating a surface by laser ablation to modify selected regions of the surface, while other regions of the surface not to be substantially ablated are protected from the laser beam by a masking fluid, wherein the masking fluid comprises a solution of a pharmaceutically acceptable pyrido benzoxazine compound or derivative thereof effective as a masking agent.

  • Publication number: 20040080756
Abstract: A beamsplitter (16) splits a source beam (14) into a sample path (17) and a reference path (19). The reflected beams recombine to form an interference signal (100). Reference surface (20) is horizontaly suspended on a loudspeaker membrane (30), and moved via a voice coil attached to the membrane (30). this arrangement isolates the reference surface (20) from external vibrations. The surface profile of the sample (18a) is analysed via the interference fringes, which are determined by computing maxima or minima in the statistical variance of digital data representing the interference signal (100). The apparatus may be used for calibrating laser ablation procedures in eye surgery.

  • Patent number: 6321965
Abstract: A novel system for dispensing tickets wherein a continuous strip is individuated into separate units by the force of users pulling each individual luggage tag through an aperture located at one end of a dispensing mechanism having a detent mechanism for shearing pre-scored and pre-arranged tickets that is used in combination with an interference and/or ramped spacing mechanism. The same may be mounted in a stanchion, on any existing environmental structure, or in a counter, and may include rectangular, rolled and alternatively shaped housing. Particularly useful for luggage tagging applications, a self-engaging ticket-like article may be used with existing guidance systems and an optional writing surface to allow users to procure and apply identifying indicia to such articles for marking luggage on an expedited basis while traveling.

  • Patent number: 4937958
Abstract: A frame having a rectangular tray with a centrally disposed flat portion. The flat portion is adapted to receive a picture or a photograph directly from the front of the frame. A cover can be placed over the picture. Rectangular holding members hold the picture in the tray. The holding members easily engage with a raised periphery which is adjacent to the centraol portion of the tray. The holding members are relatively large so as to be able to be easily grasped by a child.
