  • Patent number: 6442660
Abstract: In a computer system having an embedded application, a method of dynamic system relocation, including creating a ROM version of an embedded application which is executable from ROM; creating a RAM version of the embedded application which is executable from RAM; comparing the RAM version of the embedded application to the ROM version of the embedded application to identify differences between the RAM version and the ROM version; storing the differences between the ROM version and the RAM version in a relocation table; storing the ROM version of the embedded application and the relocation table in ROM; on system initialization; conditionally copying the ROM version of the embedded application into RAM; modifying the copied ROM version now in RAM as a function of the differences stored in the relocation table; and executing the embedded application from the RAM version of the embedded application.

  • Publication number: 20020080388
Abstract: A method of dynamic performance determination of network connected output devices, wherein each output device has a set of known characteristics, including entering a print job at a first network output device; querying other output devices on the network to determine each other output device's characteristics and pending print jobs to determine if a specific other output device is capable of performing the entered print job; transmitting a print job from the first network output device to each other capable output device; reporting the completion of a single copy of the entered print job by each other network output device; and determining the number of copies of the entered print job to be printed by the first network output device and each other output device.

  • Patent number: 5839000
Abstract: The apparatus is designed to adjust the zoom magnification control of a camera having a variable-magnification device, and includes a camera optical system for converting a scene into an image, a view finder for displaying said image to a user, a zoom control for changing the focal length of the lens, a detector coupled to the view finder for detecting a zoom condition of the user's face, and an analysis system for analyzing the detected zoom condition and for generating an input signal to the zoom control to change the focal length of the lens as a function of the zoom condition of the user's face. The method includes the steps of converting a scene into an image using a camera optical system; displaying the image to a user; detecting a zoom condition of the user's face with a zoom-condition detector; analyzing the detected zoom condition of the user's face; and generating an input signal to a zoom control for changing the focal length of the lens as a function of the zoom condition of the user's face.
