The devices includes a body portion adapted to be grasped by a dog, a casting mechanism adapted to permit the body portion to be releasably connected to a casting line, and/or one or more components adapted to impart a desired path as the body portion is pulled through water. Such paths can include, for instance, to skim along the top of the water, or to dive or bob periodically.
