Abstract: The present invention in all of its associated aspects provides improved methods and compositions for treating cancer in a mammal based on the administration of the combination of a cytokine-expressing cellular vaccine and at least one additional cancer therapeutic agent or treatment to a patient with cancer, wherein administration of the combination results in enhanced therapeutic efficacy relative to administration of the cytokine-expressing cellular vaccine or cancer therapeutic agent or treatment as a monotherapy.

Abstract: A video system and method of operation are described that compensate for low-light conditions. The video system includes a light source that adjusts. In one example the light source is controlled to either shine more light upon the user's face or less dependent upon the ambient conditions. In another example, the color of the light is changed to improve image quality. The light source may also be directly or indirectly controlled by a switch mounted onto the video telephone. Various configurations of light sources may also be implemented into the video system.

Abstract: A method and system for securing neighborhoods against crime. In one system, a short range wireless LAN technology, e.g., WiFi or WiMax, is employed to relay sensor information, including that from cameras, in real-time to a security server in a neighbor's house, which can significantly improve response time. The wireless LAN technology allows higher quality video to be captured by the on-site cameras, and relayed off-site in real-time, preserving the integrity of the data even if a burglar or intruder finds and destroys or steals the on-site security equipment. Modern IP monitoring may be employed to offer additional capabilities and reliability in these systems.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a video signal from a set-top box to a display. Steps of the method include: receiving a raw signal, processing the raw signal into a ready-for-HDTV signal, compositing the ready-for-HDTV signal with at least one graphic element, encoding the composited signal using a video codec employing a protocol such as an MPEG-2 SP@HL protocol, transmitting the encoded signal to a television receiver, receiving the transmitted signal at the television receiver, decoding the received signal, and displaying the decoded signal. The apparatus includes: either an existing or a custom set-top box, the set-top box including external or internal circuitry, respectively, for processing raw video from a video source and circuitry for compositing graphic elements with a video signal, and external or internal circuitry for encoding a processed video signal using a video codec such as an MPEG-2 SP@HL protocol, and circuitry for transmitting the video signal to a television.

Abstract: Audio reproduction in an advanced analog or digital cable/satellite television environment provides audio configuration information in a program guide that determines the parameters needed for optimum audio reproduction based on the audio source and the delivery channel. A control interface between the program guide and a user's audio electronics allows the specific capabilities of the audio electronics to be taken into account when optimizing audio reproduction. In one embodiment, the audio electronics are automatically responsive to the audio configuration information so that audio reproduction can be optimized can be optimized based on the information without requiring any action by the user.

Abstract: A system and method for dynamic alternative geographic route plotting using global positional satellite data is disclosed. The present system and method provide for using a voice selection/recognition engine to extract information relating anomalous conditions from radio broadcasts in the primary band of broadcast radio. The anomalous conditions are then sent to a GPS device which dynamically provide alternative routes. Further, the present system and method also provide for receiving information relating to anomalous conditions via the sub-band of broadcast radio. Anomalous conditions received via the sub-band are also sent to a GPS device which dynamically provide alternative routes.
