  • Publication number: 20080172930
Abstract: Disclosed herein are compositions comprising blends of at least one triglyceride; at least one fatty acid; and at least one fatty acid derivative, whereby said compositions exhibit improved processing and flame/burn characteristics. The compositions may, optionally, further comprise fillers, extenders, modifiers, binders, flame and article colorants, and perfumes and are useful in the manufacture of, for example, fireplace logs, fire starter blocks, candles, and the like.

  • Patent number: 6706903
Abstract: A process for removing saturated fatty acids from a primarily unsaturated fatty acid mixture is disclosed wherein the process comprises fractionally distilling off saturated C16 and other minor fatty acid components in the mixture to a level less than or equal to 4% by weight, adding a lower polyglycerol ester as a crystallization aid, then cooling and fractionally crystallizing out remaining saturated fatty acids to yield a product comprising less than 3.3% saturated fatty acids by weight.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 7, 2002
Date of Patent: March 16, 2004
    Assignee: Crompton Corporation
Inventors: Guy Hendree, Shannon Martin, Thomas E. Breuer, Kyle Walker
  • Patent number: 5319012
Abstract: A method for the nucleation of polyolefins containing residual polymerization catalyst by blending the polyolefins with at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid containing from about 4 to about 21 carbon atoms and at least one aliphatic monocarboxylic acid containing from about 8 to about 24 carbon atoms in a weight ratio between about 4:1 and about 1:4. Also a composition comprising at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid containing from about 4 to about 21 carbon atoms and at least one aliphatic monocarboxylic acid containing from about 8 to about 24 carbon atoms. The polyolefin product of the nucleation can be molded into shaped articles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 15, 1992
Date of Patent: June 7, 1994
    Assignee: Witco Corporation
